help with itinerary in Costa Rica

We are planning to start our trip in Arenal & then go to the Westin Conchal in Guanacaste. I contacted a local transport company which said it takes 5 hours. Can anyone suggest someplace to stop overnight so we don't have to do that much sitting in a car for so long? We don't plan on driving ourselves & would prefer private transport, nor do we want to fly. Thanks!
