Travelling with 2 teen daughters to Mexico in June
Wants:
-upscale (good dining and new/updated rooms)
-teen activities
-great beach
-kids want large enough resort that more teems will be around
-2 bedrooms (or at least a bed for all instead of sleeper sofa)

What's your rec. for best location if we want to do some offsite stuff (ruins, ATV rental, dolphins)?

If you want upscale look at Grand Velas. I don't know if there will be a lot for your teens though.
Look into the Iberostar Paraiso Maya and the Barceló Maya Palace. both are very large resorts with activities going on all day. The Iberostar Paraiso also has a teen disco.

Palace Resorts and Hard Rock Resorts have many activities for families in Mexico.The resorts are wonderful all-inclusives with lots of kids/teens clubs and activities. You can join a very helpful Facebook group with photos and info on all the Palace/HR resorts to see the options. They post some great offers and sales on there also.

Teen club, swim with the dolphins, Flowrider/surfrider etc.. our kids love it!
