Help me justify the price of the Peace Lodge

I'd like to be armed with great reviews when I try to convince my husband we should stay at the Peace Lodge for our last night in Costa Rica.
Can anyone provide me with some great material / photos?
I'm sold by the jacuzzi on the balcony!

Canadian_Traveler, you make me smile because you sound like me.

The way I convince my husband, and myself, that someplace expensive is worth it is that, after thoroughly researching its merits, I then go ahead and spend that money, but I save it somewhere else in the vacation budget...So for Italy I splurged in some cities and saved in others...You show your husband the original prices, without any savings...then, after he has an anxiety attack about the money, you then show him how you're going to save some of that money somewhere in the budget...maybe in another city you show him a cheaper hotel...Works for me! It's logical. I think it's fun to splurge in one place, and save in another...

Have you tried finding reviews of the Peace Lodge on www.tripadvisor.com? That's an interesting web-site. also I'm sure you'll hear from someone on Fodors, which is great too. also you can do a search on Fodors for Peace Lodge.

Good luck!

That's what we do also. Spend a few nights for $30, and it doesn't seem so bad to pay $150 for a couple of nights! We were really thrilled to find TV, hot water, tax included, and free breakfast in San Vito this summer for $16 per night! What a deal! Made it a lot less painful to shell out $240 per day at Bosque del Cabo a couple of days later! Works for my husband. . .

I totally agree. Save somewhere and then splurge your last night or two. Set a trip budget and then work everything into that budget.

Typically I splurge on the last nights. This year our splurge is Bosque del Cabo. And saving on the front and end of the trip.

I may be just a little slow, but it took me a while to realize that I could search this site for different topics? Also that I could click on a posters name and find other topics that they had posted or answered?

We were at Peace Lodge this past Feb and will splurge there again someday.

As for pictures, the rooms are true to what is shown on the website.

Have a great trip.

Thanks Guys, it looks like a lot of us are in the same boat. We tend to do the same, splurge on some things / places and stay on the cheap in others. Unfortunately, we're going over the Christmas holidays so nothing is really 'cheap'. I definitely can't claim any $16 nights! We're staying in Arenal and Tamarindo for $75/nt but couldn't seem to find much cheaper.
Anyway, since it's the holiday, the budget is kind of blown...oops.
Does anyone know how much a taxi would cost from SJO to Peace Lodge? The Peace Lodge gave us a quote of $60 each way but I imagine that's a private driver. Adding $120 to the price of the Peace Lodge for tranfers to and from the airport makes it far too much of a splurge. (We arrive at SJO from Liberia and leave the following day for home).
