It seems that the fiestas patronales in Juigalpa in mid-August are highly recommended by various sources, yet I have barely been able to find any information about them across the Internet. Has anyone here ever gone and can offer some advice? If I'm in Nicaragua for 11 nights, would it be worth it to set aside one night to go out there? If so, is there one night that's better than the rest? Lastly, is it possible to get there via Granada without having to go through Managua? I'd be happy to hear any information that anyone has to share. Thanks in advance.
Has anyone been to Juigalpa?

I have no firsthand experience with the festival, but I know someone who was there for it one year. They said it's a lot more like a big rodeo. The focus is bull riding contests in the bull ring in town and a few people die every year in the process. Supposedly there's a saying in Juigalpa that it's not a good festival if nobody dies. There will be a religious procession or two, but if you're expecting something along the lines of Holy Week in Antigua, Guatemala, this isn't going to be it.

Personally, with all there is to see and do in Nicaragua, I wouldn't make the detour for this, but that's me.
