Guatemala

Jump to last reply

Other than a quick trip over the border from Belize, Guatemala has been a place we have been nervous about traveling to. We have been reading more and more about how the gov. is trying to make the country safer.

Has anyone been down there recently and did it seem safer? We are thinking about skipping our next winter break in CR and heading down to Guatemala this year instead. Also thinking about time in Guatemala and then heading down to CR via Tica Bus and spending time in Nicaragua as well. We would also love to bring our nephew down there. He is Guatemalan but my sister in law adopted him when he was a baby. We would obviously want to know that it would be fairly safe for him. He is 16 now.

Thanks for any info.
