I know we do not have a specific page for Mexico but I just had a great travel experience in PV and would be happy to share with anyone thinking about going there.

HI Barry. My wife and 2 children ages 16 & 23 are considering PV due to the good deals now available.Less than $400 per person in an all-inclusive resort for 4 nights! We are wanting to know about the activities available. How's the snorkeling? Does it compare to Cancun? Any must see/do attractions, as well as don't do/rip-offs? We would like to know where you stayed and hear any good information/travel tips. Thanks John.

We stayed at the Club Marival just north of the airport and it was all inclusive and it was wonderful!!!We did not snorkel but i heard from several people that it was fine. We took one day trip into the Sierra Madre Mnts with a tour group called Vallarta Adventures and it was outstanding. We had never stayed at an All Inclusive and i was very happy with the plan. The food was fresh ,plentiful and better than i thought it would be. Lots of activities and a very friendly staff. We went into town twice but mostly hung out at our resort for a very restful trip...

Hola Barry!
Thank you very much for sharing your info. I am a resident of Puerto Vallarta and it is always a pleasure to hear good recommendations about our town.
John, although all inclusive is not my first recommendation, as PV has so many great restaurants, in your case, with two young adults, I would recommend it.
and yes, right now are low season rates, which will give you some money to spend in outside activities that will make your trip more complete. Take a safari jeep tour into the Sierra Madre Mountains, a day cruise to Caletas or a cruise to Marietas Islands on a replica of Christopher Columbus' galleon.
Please contact me if you have more questions.
Gracias,
Elena

Hello, well, I have to say, I love PV! And it's so much better than cancun because cancun is so americanized. We always stay at the Krystal Ixtapa, we have always had good luck, and a beautiful resort. We always get a private Villa with a private pool, but if you go downtown, its where you will see true mexican life. On our first time to PV we thought we would go to cool places that sounded fun and were reccomended bey tour books and stuf, what we were missing was mexicans. It seemed like anywhere we went it was filed with Americans, so from then on we asked cab drivers where they take there families, or we would ask locals that we could find. It's a great place for deep sea fishing, and kids love it too. There are Gecokos for them to catch, and the beaches are gorgeous. The sunsets are the best, anyone going to PV can NOT have a bad time. So, have fun Zack

Puerto Vallarta is my favorite tourist destination in Mexico. However snorkeling is very poor compared to Cancun or other popular snorkeling areas. In general the Pacific Coast is poor due to murky water and lack of colorful sealife.

I would not recommend an all inclusive. One of the joys of visiting Mexico is to enjoy the local cuisine. Puerto Vallarta has many fine restaurants. An all inclusive is always much more expensive than eating at the local restaurants unless you drink a lot of liquor. If the price at the all inclusive is cheap than I can bet that the food will not be very good.

Take a tour into the mountains and surrounding countryside.

We just got back from Puerto Vallarta last Friday and had a great time as well. We stayed at the Camino Real, which was beautiful and in a good location; it was only 5 minutes into town by cab. We took the Vallarta Adventures day trip to Las Caletas and I would highly recommend it. The crew is great and Las Caletas is very relaxing. We couldn't go snorkling because the visibility was poor and there were tons of jellyfish, but it was still a great trip -good food/open bar, nice beach, etc. We also went on a jeep trip to San Sebastian with a company called Pacific Travel. The people in Puerto Vallarta were so friendly; Just about everyone we encountered was very warm and helpful. We will definitely be back.

I think PV is my favorite resort town in all of Mexico. I prefer to head south to Real Mexico in tha Manzanilo area around tenacatita Bay. Check out my digs at www.choice1.com/villamontana.htm

adios!

Message: Hi Jen,
I was in Puerto Vallarta about three months ago and made all my arrangements in advance with a company called Royale Tours, and I did some great excursions.
They recommended me a horseback riding tour, which was rather exciting ( other easier tours are available as well ), but this one was a great tour finishing at a waterfall where we had drinks and an opportunity to swim. Then back at the beautiful ranch ( Palma or so ), we had a very good BBQ Lunch. My wife and I really enjoyed it a lot.
We were also able to swim with the dolphins, because we made our reservations in advance with this company. The dolphins are fully booked all the time. It is really well done though, no shows or tricks, but the real swimming with the dolphins, good orientation, nice people, clean water, etc.
Also beautiful was a trip to a beach in the South, I forgot the name, but it was perfect, everything was included, kayaks, snorkeling, hammocks, snacks, buffet lunch, all drinks, beach-games, hiking, and the place is really beautiful with parrots, all types of plants and trees, nice beach, clear water, everything.
Royale Tours has a web-site where you can see some of their tours, but I would suggest you contact them so that they can give you some good recommendations. At that time Elena helped me and she did a great job. Have a nice vacation !
