Can anyone recommend some good beaches with nice (but not too huge/dangerous) waves? My kids love body surfing, but I'm concerned about currents. We'll be visiting in the Manuel Antonio area. Also looking for a good beach front hotel. Thanks.
Great body surfing beaches?

You'll find plenty of beaches in/around Manuel Antonio that will be safe enough for body surfing as long as you kids are not too small..you didn't mention the ages. I saw a web site for Hotel Tres Banderes (not on the beach) that states Manuel Antonio is perfect for board and body surfing.
As for 'beachfront' hotels, there are VERY FEW in Manuel Antionio. The only one I can remember seeing is Natures Beachfront Hotel. They have a web site.
Tamarindo would be OK as well, even though board surfers like it too. I don't recommend Jaco beach for kids.
We have a secluded little private beach here called 'Playa Macha". It s a 15 minute hike from the end of the raod and maybe the best body surfing beach in the entire country. The waves simply break perfect EVERY time! You will have to ask around about how to get there as it s off thebeaten path. The other thing is that it is like a bowling alley, you need to stay in the mddle as there are a few submerged rocks along the "gutters" of the bowling lanes, but
anyone can body surf there as the waves are so perfect.
As far as beach front there are very few, but there is Verde Mar and Karahe.
Best warm wishes!
