Gran Hotel de Querataro
Hello,
I am still wrestling with finding a hotel for my 4 nights in Queretaro mid-December- I have received a lot of recommendations for La Casa de la Marquesa but I do like a comfortable hotel and not old faded furniture etc - but - I am still to be persuaded.
What do my fellow Fodorites think of the Gran Hotel? I would appreciate your input.
Thanks in advance!

The thing I like about Gran Hotel is the location. That's also what I don't like. There is a bar/restaurant on the main floor that can get pretty noisy at times; live music etc. And one side of the hotel faces the busiest street in downtown QRO.
You've never really indicated your budget, but you might check out Dona Urraca Spa & Suites. For me, it has the best location in centro, on 5 De Mayo, a very quiet street. It's about 3 blocks from the tourist andadores and Plaza De Armas, with a number of boutique type shops, coffee shops and restaurants on the same street and around the plaza. There is often live music or some sort of cultural thing going on in the plaza, but you'd be far enough away that the music would not be an issue. Hotels.com has it for about 2100 pesos, or like $127 US at today's exchange rate.
