Gals Trip to Mexico- Need Some Help
Every year, I take a trip with two of my best friends. This year we have decided on Mexico. We want a hotel that is all-inclusive. We are concerned about not being in a touristy area (Cancun). We want a great beach, a pool and some interesting restaurants in the area. A spa either in the hotel or close by would be great too. We are all just turning 30 this year so we want to have some nightlife, but not Senor Frogs kind of bars. I have never been to Mexico, but have heard of some of the hangouts friends went in college- not really interested. Any of your comments would be appreciated. If their is an exceptional company to use for all-inclusive rates let me know. Thanks in advance

hi, my experience in mexico has been the allinclusives are not necessarily convenient to other restaurants, and if you are interested in restaurants, an allinclusive probably isn't the best deal for you anyway. in mexico, i don't like AIs because in most resort towns, there are plenty of good places to eat and drink that are more fun than hanging out at the same hotel all week. i would recommend playa del carmen on the yucatan first _ some nightlife, good restaurants, not too much senor frogs' type revelry, though it is developing very very rapidly. Next, probably puerto vallarta on the west coast, or Ixtapa/Zihuatenejo (sp?), which both have both old and new parts of town to explore.

I agree with Texasgirl. I've been thinking about doing a trip with my sister (we too would be celebrating 'milestone' birthdays, although unfortunately we're not turning 30!). I like Playa del Carmen a lot, although I think if we did a trip, we might choose Zihuatanejo. That area is lovely. And, like Texasgirl says, there are so many good restaurants that I would never consider all inclusive. One thing I liked about Zihuatanejo was having massages on the beach - it was only $10 USD, so I had 3 during the 2 weeks there. I also had a fantastic pedicure at a little shop. It was all locals, no tourists. The esthetician spent an hour on my feet and the cost was about $3.50 USD. I felt totally pampered!

Just keep in mind, the west coast has the ocean whereas the peninsula side has the caribbean sea. You said beaches are important but you didn't mention anything about water or water activities. If that's important, you may want to consider this and stay on the Caribbean. You may want to check into Cozumel. I think that might fit your tastes perfectly.

I do a trip with my 5 other girl friends(in our LATE 30's)
we've been to Puerto Vallarta(Stayed at La Jolla De Mismloya--AllInc.) loved it GREAT nightlife. Los Cabos (Presidente--All Inc) Great Nightlife and Aruba--Also All Inc. Good nightlife
We do the all inclusive just for the convience of it. We always venture out anyway for dinner for a few of the nights.
