Galapagos Cruises

Has anyone been on either the Santa Cruz or Legend cruise boats in the Galapagos? If so what was your experience and was it good value for money ? Thanks

Those take about 100 passengers. I have experience with 16 passenger boats. Email if you are interested in that.

I checked with my friend who went on the Legend. She liked the ship, thought the guides were excellent, but the food was very mediocre and uninspired. She said that people jammed the buffet tables during meals and it was rather unpleasant.

We went with Lindblad on the Polaris and thought it was great, but was rather expensive and I can't say it was really worth the extra money. We chose it because we wanted a "7-day only" cruise. The Legend and the Santa Cruz break up the 7-day cruise to include a 3-day and a 4-day. Lindblad is an excellent company, the food was very good, plent to eat and very gracious service. It's a matter of $$$$.

In the same size and price range, you could also consider the Galapagos Explorer II or Celebrity Xpedition. I know those have gotten good reviews. Good value is very subjective though. I've only sailed on a small catamaran (Archipel) and thought that vessel was an excellent value.

My husband and I went on the Isabella II last summmer and really loved it. It is owned by the same company as the Santa Cruz. It has less passengers (40) and a wonderful staff and guides. It only cruises for 7 days so you don't circle back to drop off and pick up passengers like the Santa Cruz which offers the 3-4 day options. I think it costs more than the Santa Cruz but we liked the idea of a large ship with less passengers.

My fiance and I spent a week there on the vessel Eclipse last August (for my 40th BDay). I believe she is one of the more expensive ships but I can not say enough WONDERFUL things about the crew, staff, naturalists, food, etc. etc. The ship is large (210 feet) but only takes 48 passengers - there are about 30 crew members and 4 to 6 naturalists so you really do get personalized attention and service. They truly went out of their way to ensure that everyone on board had an amazing time. We learned so much from the Naturalists - we have over 1,500 pictures from the 2 weeks we were away and love going back to them again and again. So if you can take a look at Eclipse you won't be sorry!!!

I will be boarding the Isabella II on June 28. Anybody knows what the weather is like at the end of June and if there is internet anywhere (ship or land?). Unfortunately, I will have to check it once in a while.
Thanks!

There is internet on the Isabella ll.

You will use the laptop computer that the pursor in the main Foyer has.

You will love this yacht, very nice cabin room, dinning room and lounge.
