Food

Hi all,
I'm going to Costa Rica in mid-December traveling in the Arenal Sarapiqui region and was wondering if it's safe to eat the foods and drink the water. Any advice on where to get bottled water/ food for picnics?

thanks

I just returned from Costa Rica and had no problem drinking the water or eating the food. Bottled water is available everywhere if you prefer it to tap water.

thank you. Did you eat in road side stands or just in established restaurants?

My wife and I ate 75% of the time at neighborhood sodas and never had any problems. It was also real cheap. 2 plates and 2 drinks for roughly 5-7 dollars total.

I just got back too and ate anywhere and everywhere with no issues ever.
Great cheap food all over, and as easy to get bottled water as in the US.

I didn't find the traditional CR dishes to be all that great, but it is fairly safe. However, Hep A shots are recommended. Not a bad thing to have whether or not you're going to CR.

Totally agree with RTF.
Beans and rice, rice and beans - Salsa Lizano is PDG with same: a bit boring, but VG.
My internist recommended Hep A and B.
I guess he thought I was living in a faster lane than I can handle.
