We're planning a trip in February with our 4 year old son (a very tolerant traveler). We've been to Costa Rica with him and he seemed to enjoy short hikes and especially a beach with small waves. We prefer fairly non-touristy places, but do like some comforts. Any suggestions on a 10 day itinerary would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info!
We've stayed at Hotel Sister Moon on Isla Grande( near Portobelo ). It was super clean/ cute/ quirky...lol. Not many "creature comforts", but it did the trick. ( look at Bananas hotel there ). Some fun snorkeling at the small but pretty/ safe beach.
To the other coast and an opposite end of the hotel spectrum, was Boutique Hotel Cala Mia on Isla Boca Brava near David, on the Pacific. The day trips to Isla Bolanos and then to Isla Secas were incredible. The beaches on Isla Boca Brava tend to have silt( from the estuary on mainland ), but it was still calm and lovely, we kayaked, saw HUGE sea turtles often, dolphins, its a very cool place. And we were with 2 children.
