We are getting ready to book a trip to PV in Feb. Our travel agent suggested the Fiesta Americana and the Dreams.I am familiar with Dreams but not Fiesta Americana. Any suggestions?

We stayed there on our first trip to Vallarta on a package deal (ie, airfare and lodging arranged by the airline). The hotel is nice enough but they had a steel guitar band playing loudly and poorly in the open bar so it was far too noisy for us. There was no way to drown out the noise until the nightly thunderstorms. Dunno if this is the norm or if we were just unlucky.

Have returned to Vallarta several times since and have never considered staying at the FA ... if you stay there request a room as high up as possible.

It's too far from downtown for my taste. I've never stayed there, just seen it each year as I drive by coming in from the airport (it's out that way).

I stayed at Fiesta Americana last spring for a week and thought it was a very nice hotel on a good stretch of beach. It is also a short cab ride to downtown. The room had high ceilings, was nicely furnished, and had a good sized balcony.

I would definitely consider staying there again on my next trip back (although I will also be looking at the Sheraton, which is even closer to downtown).

My only complaint (and it is a minor one) is that the music they pump into the pool area is way too loud and way too American.

I forgot to mention that I stayed at the "club" level which advertises itself as providing breakfast and evening hors d'ouvres and wine. It is a very sorry excuse for a club level - the breakfast was edible but the "hors d'ouvres' included one hot item and basically potato chips. Plus, although they say that wine is included, what they really mean is champagne only (or rather, sparkling wine). They did not provide sparkling wine. They would bring out ONE bottle of champagne at a time for everyone.

That being said, the cost of the club wasn't much more and it did guarantee being on the top floor with a very nice room and good ocean views.

Just know what to expect - this is nothing like a Ritz Carlton club level and it is not even like a Hilton executive level.
