Falls Resort at Manuel Antonio (?)

It's rated #2 on Tripadivosr for popularity behind La Posada which isn't available for our stay. I'm wondering why I never see it recommended though. Does anyone know anything about it? I was leaning towards it but leary! Thanks!

It's sort of new in this incarnation -- maybe a little over a year or so? It used to be called Big Ruby's La Plantacion. I haven't stayed there, but it looks like a nice place. Very lush -- and a great location. I do know there was talk of a new mega resort/condo kind of place being built sort of next door -- so there *might* be a construction noise issue right now -- I'd email them and ask.

Hey argmom,

I just stayed there a few weeks ago. While the grounds are very nice I was disappointed with the overall stay. Our room was not the cleanest and quite mildewy. Breakfast was not very good either. But, with the reduced rate($70) due to the construction it was not that bad. I would definitely not pay any more though. Depending on your budget my favorite hotel that I checked out when I was there is Mango Moon.

Thanks--I did check into it and they are actually closing for a few weeks for maintenance so we couldn't stay there. Now I'm looking into Costa Verde or Hotel Verde Mar.

Highly recommend Costa Verde (althought the front desk staff are a little cool!) as a very good value. Not upscale, but a good value.

Nice (and where we stay these days) is Tulemar Bungalow (nicer place, same price more or less). We love lower Villa Mot Mot. It has a really comfy California king (sleeps 2 and a small child easily), DVD's, a little kitchenette. Small bathroom, but with a huge tub/shower. Huge. Nice porch, SO much wildlife all around. We've had squirrel monkeys on our porch, a fer de lance on the steps (!), always a sloth nearby, white faced capuchins, etc. The private beach there is excellent for swimming. Upper Mot Mot a little nicer, pricier, roomier.
