Embera Village

I am confused. We will be in colon for a week and I want to visit Enbera Village. There is so many different tour groups....Adventure Tours Panama, Get Your Guide, Panama Travel Unlimited, Rain Forest Adventures Panama, Anne Gordon...and the prices really vary from $110pp to $175pp but all the descriptions of the tours look the same. Any advice???

In general, you should research which village you'd be visiting. A lot of these 'villages' are really pathetic tourist traps that are about as genuine as a Disneyland ride, where you see a performance rather than how people actually live.

Agree with RAC. Were there two years ago and went to the village really close to that large "eco"hotel. Pure tourist trap with all the, uh, trappings. At least they waited until most tourists were back in their boats before changing into modern civvies and heading to their cars, which were expertly hidden.

For real Emberas adventures you should consider to go with an authorized company in the Darien. (don't go there by your own).

Janisj, I am new in this forum and answering to the post which are incomplete and could be useful for future travelers. I am living here in Panama and think I can update travelers with the correct information as most travel book are not updated. I do not understand why it creates you so much problems.
