Driving yourself to Manuel Antonio - Parking?

Following the forum's advice, I plan to get myself to the park entrance and find a guide (will be driving down from Jaco in the morning). But I have one question that I cannot find an answer to in the posts -- if you have a rental car, is there a parking lot or suitable place to leave your car while you go into the park? Or do you need to leave it in town somewhere and take a taxi?

There is a parking lot at the park entrance that you have to pay a small fee. Space is limited so get there early. There are places to park along the road but you will be taking a chance parking there. Dont leave any valuables in the car, not even the trunk!

If memory serves, parking is around 1000 colones (a little over 2 dollars).

As you drive into the Manuel Antonio general area, you will see a large beach on your right. At this point you will start to see signs for parking and also lot attendants attempting to direct you into the first lots you encounter. We continued all the way to the end of the road into a traffic circle and were able to park there, right outside the entrance to the park. This close-in lot did not cost any more than than the lots farther away from the entrance.

We arrived there late morning during the off-peak "green season" (early November) and this lot was almost empty at that time. Later in the day it was much more full.

We parked at the entrance to the park, near the traffic circle, as well during Holy Week last year. It was very crowded then but we were there early enough in the morning to get a space. Depending on the time of year you go keep in mind to get there early during high season.
