driving from Tabacon to La Fortuna?

We're thinking of going in January next year (2018); Tabacon looks like a great place to stay.
However, i do have a small concern that it may be too far away from La Fortuna.

Has anyone stayed at Tabacon and gone into La Fortuna for dinner? If so, how long is the drive each way, and are taxis very expensive?

thanks!

We haven't stayed at Tabacon, but we have gone there for their gorgeous natural hot springs. The drive isn't really that bad; it's just a straight shot into town on a well paved road. There's just one main road that runs from town all the way to the lake. We usually stay much further out at the Lost Iguana, Arenal Observatory Lodge etc. The further you are from town, the better your chances of seeing wildlife. Taxis can add up since the area is spread out. You might check with Tabacon to see if they have a shuttle; we've stayed at several hotels that offer them, not sure if they have that option. I wouldn't let the distance from town deter me though; you'll find that with just about any nice hotel in the area.

The drive from Tabacon Resort to downtown La Fortuna is nearly 20 min. It is an easy drive on a paved road. There are local cabs available from 5am until 11pm approximately.

Tabacon is near 15 minutes drive to La Fortuna Town and it takes just few minutes to get there. The hotel has a Taxi service and they will be happy to assist you getting there, Food at Tabacon is quite expensive so driving to town worth it.
