Can anyone help me with a series of directions? My wife and I are taking our honeymoon in Costa Rica at the end of July. We are flying into Liberia and going to Tabacon Hot Springs Resort for 2 nights, then driving to Hotel Costa Verde in Manuel Antonio for 4 nights, and finall driving up to Potrero Bay and staying at Hotel Bahia Del Sol for the last 3 nights before driving back to Liberia Airport. We are renting a car for all of this, which I am actually very excited about, so I don't mind all the driving. We are looking for as much help as possible with the directions for each transfer I just mentioned.
Also, Hotel Bahia Del Sol was recommended to me by 2 different travel agents. It's gotten very nice reviews on some sites, but it's getting horrible reviews on tripadvisor.com. Does anyone have any opinions of this place?
Thanks so much for any help you might give with all of this.

I´ve been to Bahia del Sol and looked around. . .haven´t stayed or seen the rooms, but I tend to disregard tripadvisor reviews. . .trust Fodors more. Unfortunately, not many people have reviewed BdS on Fodors. I´d not be too worried if I were you. . .I think it´s probably quite okay..looks fine, at any rate. Nice little area, across from the little bakery-restaurant.
Liberia to Tabacon. . .buy yourselves a Berndston & Berndston map--it is excellent and will get you all over the place quite nicely. All routes are easy that you are taking. Liberia to Canas, then up toward Tileran, following the signs to Arenal. Road around the lake pretty poor, but for the most part, without problems.
Tabacon to MA. . .from La Fortuna down to La Tigre and then San Ramon. Once through San Ramon, get onto the highway going east toward San Jose. You will soon see a sign to exit toward Atenas ( south of the highway). .this road will take you over the mountains (very pretty) through Orotina and on down to Quepos and Manuel Antonio.
When returning to Liberia area, follow signs to Liberia from Quepos, but turn onto Highway 18 (going west) at the big intersection with the gasoline station on the left and a restaurant on the right. This will take you over the Friendship Bridge to Highway 21. Follow north through Nicoya, Santa Cruz, on toward Belen, where you will turn left (following signs) toward Huacas and then right to Playa Flamingo area. Follow signs in the Playa Flamingo area (just before the curve into town) to Playa Potrero. Not difficult at all, although it may sound so! Decent signage. . .
Congrats and have a great honeymoon!
Look on the Tabacon website for directions . . . .
When you access the page, you’ll see the directions to Tabacon from San Jose first and then scroll down for directions to Liberia or the Guanacaste province beaches.

Shillman, thank you so much for taking the time to help me like that. I really appreciate your help.
You are very welcome. . but it´s actually Shillmac. . .my mistake on the thread title the other day!
I may have a new screenname!
I will be arriving into Liberia in Aug. w/6 teenage girls - destination is Nicaragua. I would love to know exactly how you got from the airport to Penas Blancas - bus, taxi, shuttle?, cost?, did it leave from the airport, bus station, Pan-Am highway, etc.... We arrive at around 1:00 in the afternoon so would like to cross the border the same day. There isn't much current information on the internet about this topic so any additional details would be really helpful! It sounds hectic but do-able. Been across that border once on Tica Bus so am a little familiar with the layout. Thanks in advance for any info.
I would recommend MA to Liberia straight there on Hwy 1.
Driving around Costa Rica this map comes in handy - http://www.yourtravelmap.com/costarica/travelmap/index.php?&width=1280
