December Itinerary with 1 Year Old

Jump to last reply

Hi all, myself, my husband and our 1 year old will be travelling to Costa Rica for 3 weeks from 30th Nov - 21st December. Could you please help with our itinerary and best places to go?

We plan on renting a car and would like to visit Monteverde for 3-4 nights, Arenal for 4 nights then would ideally like to go to the Caribbean coast but have heard that December is the wettest month. Is there any point in going? Should we save that for another trip?

Alternatively we would then drive from Arenal to Samara and spend a week around the Nicoya peninsula and do some day trips etc before heading back to SJ and doing some day trips from there.

Does this sound like a good itinerary? We want to avoid really touristy places (with the Monteverde and Arenal being the exception) and would like to see lots of wildlife, relax, lots of walking and the occasional activity (taking it in turns)

Really appreciate some advice as I'm a bit lost! Thanks :)
