Which do you recommend for nightlife, snorkling, and above all SAFE! <BR>Cozumel or Play Del Carmen?

They're both safe. Snorkeling is better in Cozumel, and night life is probably better in Playa.

hi we were in Playa Del Carmen in Nov 2000. Highly recommend playacar resort area, it waswonderful. We took a ferry for cheap to cozumel and spent the day. We are glad we stayed in Playa del carmen because way more to do on the mainland.

p.s. noticed my e-mail was wrong on lst repy. Playacar is very very safe. You want to snorkel in xcarat or Xelha. Great places we loved xel ha the best.

We've stayed at both and we liked PDC better. Although snorkeling can't be beat at Cozumel nightlife is better in PDC. You can always take the ferry to Cozumel to snorkel(try Playa Corona). I agree with JED that Xel-ha is really nice especially for a first time trip to the area.

COZUMEL!!!!!!! The snorkeling is fabulous, it is clean and safe. Cozumel does not have the water problems mainland Mexico has. The ferry is just a 45 min. ride so you can go to PDC whenever. I agree, Xel-Ha is great. Have a great trip!!!

P.S. <BR>I would skip Chankanaab on Cozumel especially if you only have a short stay. The snorkeling is only so-so compaired to other sites and it is crowded with cruise passengers and fairly expensive. The cenote and gardens are nice though.

Are there any nice beaches in Cozumel? Or is it mostly rocky along the shore? Been there twice but both for only day trips and didn't get to really check it out. <BR>Stayed in Playa Del Carmen many years ago and loved it. <BR> <BR>Terri <BR>
