I just heard that it is extremely crowded in Costa Rica over Easter break. I heard that the transportation system (planes, boats, taxi's) shuts down. Also that very few hotels will serve alcohol during this week. Has anyone heard truth to any of this?????

Wendy,
You may have read the post on Thorn Tree forums...
I was in Costa Rica during Easter about 6 years ago, and yes, the beaches were very, very crowded. Much more so than any other time of year, and yes, some of the hotels would not sell liquor. We had to go to the store before Good Friday and buy some, as we heard the stores would not be selling on Good Friday either. It was a hassel not being able to buy a drink at the hotel bar. But, it was 6 years ago, so maybe something has changed? I'm not sure whether it was a law that they could not sell it, or whether they just closed the bars to let the employees have the time off, but it was not fun for us! Maybe someone who's been this past Easter can give you some more recent info. I'm topping this for you.
Check a recent guide book about liquor laws, I think what you're hearing is at least partially true. Easter is very much "high" tourist season for both locals and visitors, so book ahead.
