Hi, We will be in San Jose and Turrialba for about 15 days. After that we have another 3-4 days at our disposal for leisure/adventure and are trying to figure out various options. Any advice and suggestions are welcome. At this point we plan to rent a car in SJO and drive to Turrialba (believe it is approx 3 hr drive). From Turrialba.. thinking of three possibilities:
1. Drive to Limon? How far is it from Turrialba? From Limon to SJO for flight back.. how far will it be/
2. Does it make sense to go to Monteverde from Turrialba instead to make it a more relaxing drive?
3. Paquare river area, paquare river lodge from Turrialba?
Thanks

Forgot to mention, this will be our second trip to CR and we have been to Arenal and Dominical areas. We've done river rafting in Sarapiqui river.
If you are in Turrialba, why not explore the Caribbean side and go to Tortuguero, Puerto Viejo/Cahuita? You could drive via Squirres, head to Cahuita for the sloth rescue center, national park, beaches.
City of Limon is not known as a tourist destination, not worth your time, much better to head either north or south of it. Great wildlife viewing at Tortuguero on the canals.
Turrialba to Monteverde would probably be around six hours - 2 back to San Jose, 3 1/2 - 4 from there.
You have done Rafting in Sarapiqui but the experience in pacuare river will be much better.(Explornatura or Rios Tropicales is a good company) Turrialba is 2:30 hours from Caribbean area. San Jose- Turrialba is 2 or less Hours.
I think that Monteverde is really far away to Turrialba, it is not a good idea in my opinion.
As a good idea , visit Tortuguero is a good idea, this place is really beautiful, check more info : http://valledoradotours.cr/en/where-to-go/tortuguero.html
Turrialba is really nice, nightlife is good, nature is amazing, The Volcano, pacuare , reventazon and pejivalle rivers, La martha natural reserve. canopy , rappel , rafting, mountain bike.more info about turrialba: http://www.visiteturrialba.com/
