Costa Rica Driver Guides

Can anyone recommend an English speaking, knowledgeable and responsible driver guide to take us from Arenal to Manual Antonio, who can explain things and show us things along the way? Thanks.

Last January we booked round trip transfers from SJO to Manuel Antonio with Alberto Artavia ([email protected]). Alberto was very responsive by email and gave us a very competitive rate. His driver Emelio was prompt, professional and friendly. However, Emelio was more of a driver than a tour guide.

We like Carlos Bogarin; here's his website. He waited hours for us at the airport when our flight was delayed, so he got extra points from me! Very nice and interesting, fluent in English, and he can spot toucans.

We've also booked drivers through out hotels when we reserve them.

I've used Alberto as well, about a dozen times. He just put up a website too http://www.colochostours.com/ He & the two guys that work for him, Carlos & Emilio, are great and very dependable.

We just came back from Costa Rica and used Wilson Rojas ([email protected]) which I highly recommend. I got his name from this site as others have used him. He is very knowledgeable and is tour guide as well as a driver. We learned so much from him. He drove us from San Jose to Arenal, Arenal to Manuel Antonio and MA to Alejuela. He is prompt responding to you and if doesn't answer then his wife Elsy will email you (she came with him when he drove us from MA to Alejuela)!

Ricardo Castro is great! He has a company, based out of the Manuel Antonio area, and they do transfers between Arenal and Manuel Antonio all the time. You can email him at [email protected]

Another vote for Wilson. He drove us from San Jose to Arenal, Arenal to Puerto Viejo and PV back to SJ. He was fantastic!

I´m concern because most of the names mentioned ARE NOT GUIDES, just drivers that speak english and if you are paying for a guide you should get a real one , here is a list of tour guides with respective license of ICT (Costa Rica´s tourism government institution) here are some TOP Guides in Costa Rica : Frank Simms, Clarence Taylor, Elston, Herson Guevara, Sergio Guevara, Piero Chavarria. I do not know how to get in touch with them but write to Fabio Molina he is a spanish tour guide he can get you in touch with this guys Email: [email protected]

Good luck!
