We plan a 3-4 week around part of Central America or Brazil, starting in mid June 2011. I am finding a lot of contradictory information regarding the weather at this time of year. As it is honeymoon, we would like to get in more than average beach time and therefore want it warm and sunny. Can anyone advise on weather in say mexico, guatemala, belize, honduras or alternatively in rio de janeiro and salvador at that time of year.

I can't help with South America but have spent a month each summer in Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, and/or Mexico for 7 of the last 8 years. Mid June is sometimes still pretty dry (and hot in low-lying areas) but sometimes the rains have started. For the areas I name that typically means sunny mornings with a period of hard rain occasionally in the afternoon or in the night - great weather, great time to visit. Technically it's the start of the hurricane season so keep your ears open but you're unlikely to be affected so early in the season. The rains generally start later on the north coast of Honduras (Bay Islands, for example), more like October, so summers are usually dryer there.
If you decide on CA, check out my photos, blogs, and detailed travelogues below and then let me know if I can answer questions. Congratulations and happy trails!
