cell phones in costa rica?

I was planning to take my samsung E715 when I go to costa rica. Does anyone know if this phone, with a local SIM card, will work in costa rica? Also any information about where I can buy a sim card, and what areas the phone may work, would be great!

thanks

Your phone needs to operate on the 1800Mhz band and from what I see the E715 doesn't so it wouldn't do you any good in CR.
Cheers,

Does anyone know what the coverage is like outside of San Jose? I would imagine that it would be good, but some less developed countries have good cellular networks. Who is the primary carrier?

the only carrier is the government telephone company ICE

Coverage seemed to be pretty good when I was there a few months ago and traveling with someone who kept getting calls and we were all over the place... Most populated centers and along the main highways seemed to be covered.
