Cancun Hilton
My wife sand I are heading to Cancun next January for 4 - 5 days. Thinking of staying at the Hilton.
Any thoughts on the hotel? Also looking for tips on restaurants and things to do. Thanks!

I went to Cancun a couple of months ago. It depends on how much money do you want to spend. If you plan to stay all day long on the hotel enjoying the beach I would recommend to get one of those all included packages. I stayed in the Carisa and Palma condominiums (62 dollars per night). The hotel is one of the oldest ones, is not as fancy but the but the beach was gorgeus.
I would recommend to do the Xcaret tour (www.xcaret.com), just go to that website and see for yourself; you will fall in love with Mexican culture.
Also a half day trip to Tulum is highly recommended. This is a really beautiful archeological site .
There are several malls , an aquarium and a lot of bars and restaurants close to downtown.

My husband and I stayed there but it has been 4 years so my response may not be accurate. Maybe it's because we got engaged there, but we loved it. Our room was in one of the Villas so we had a ton of privacy. The hotel was only at 50% when we were there so we always got chairs in the shade at the pool. The pool was beautiful and large. We only ate at the hotel once - we like to get out and explore and Cancun offers many good restaurants. We ate at the Mexican buffet and it was excellent. If you stay in the villas you get a free continental breakfast every day as well as free hors d'oeuvres and drinks in the evening.
Getting around Cancun from the Hilton is very easy. We took the bus almost every day - it was only $1 per person or something like that.
We only did one tour and it was through Waterworld. It was the jetski tour through the mangroves and then snorkeling. My husband loved it, but the water was too rough and deep for me to snorkel.
We are considering going back to Cancun this Dec and we will most likely stay at the Hilton. We looked into the all-inc deals at other hotels, but when staying somewhere where it's so easy to get around, I'd rather go out and explore different restaurants.

We just returned from Cancun and I would suggest ordering a map from
www.mapchick.com It lists every restaurant and bar, gives tips on riding the bus, and also has day trip information. I believe they have just revised the map for post-hurricane. It looks like that hotel is at the southern tip of the hotel zone, and we stayed up at the northern end, so my restaurant suggestions wouldn't be too helpful. If you do make a trip downtown "centro" try La Habichuela for dinner - we loved it!

From Cancun to Playa del Carmen and on through the Riviera Maya, the Yucatan Peninsula is full of things to do. Transportation is a breeze!
If you are staying at the Aventura Spa Palace, you should be able to have all of your tours free... at least that is what we are able to offer people who rent our timeshare.
Not included on the list of free tours is Xcaret which I highly recommend! Go to their website and check it out. It's Fabulous! http://www.xcaret.com
In regards to using the other Palace Resorts... yes! Palace Resorts allows you to use the facilities at any of their all-inclusive resorts while you are staying with them. A quick trip to Playacar Palace or Xpu Ha Palace for a day or just a new environment for your 'all-inclusive' dinner and drinks is like a night out on the town without paying!
You could even take the ferry over to Cozumel and stop in at the Cozumel Palace!
If you were fortunate enough to find a Palace Resorts timeshare owner to garner access to their Palace Premier Membership and the free massage, manicure and pedicure for everyone in your party... you will love the facility at the Aventura Spa Palace. All of the Palace Resorts have spa facilities that will pamper you and relax you immediately.
You will love the Riviera Maya.. It is in the heart of the Yucatan Peninsula and all of its wonders!
