Camino Real, Westin or Marriott in Puerto Vallarta in September?
My husband and I are thinking about going to PV for about a week in September and have found very good deals at all three of these resorts. People on this board seem to lean towards the Camino Real, but the real bargains are in the regular rooms and it gets pricy to upgrade. We can always hope that they would upgrade us when we arrived, but are the regular rooms all right? We are looking for a relaxing vacation in a beautiful place where we can have a little bit of luxury and spend some days exploring.

One reason people favor Camino Real, even though it is an older resort is that it sits slightly south of town and on its own nice beach. A real luxury in PV. And considered to have more "Mexican flavor". Casa Magna Marriott is in The Marina right near the airport, a more dense tourist area (I think the Westin is around there too but not sure). It would be easy as can be to explore from any of these three resorts (by taxi, local bus, or rental car).

I've only stayed in the club rooms, so I can't speak to the regular rooms, but the Camino Real really is a charming hotel in a lovely spot.
Read reviews of hotels in Puerto Vallarta on tripadvisor.com, you may find some who stayed in the reg. rooms.
You can't beat the Camino Real for location among the large hotels in PV!
I dream of returning to the Camino Real and PV soon!

Camino Real has the best beach and location is close to town I have stayed in the regular rooms they are a little dated but the hotel is great. The grounds are well kept the maid service is fine and they have a nice breakfast and also the best red sanpper for lunch at the restaurant on the beach, we have never had better. We prefer to stay as close to town as possible so we prefer the Sheraton it just reopened after being closed for a yr and a half. The only thing that I am afraid of w/the Camino Real is the previous msg theat they are going under new mgmnt and all inclusive that is the worst thing you can do in P. Vallarta is miss out on the restaurants that are so wonderful you wouldn't want to miss out on them. I can help you with them so you can enjoy the real flavor of P. Vallarta. The Marriott is a great hotel it hardly has any beach but it's a nice hotel and
there is a lot to due at the Marina but it is further to town. Bottom line it's all a matter of your choice. Good Luck!! If you would like any more info try email [email protected] I will be glad to help.

Oh, I am very sorry to hear the Camino Real has been sold, and it will be an Al.
That sounds like a real shame. Well, we'll see, maybe it won't be too bad, but there's just no real need for an Al in PV.
