Camino Real Cancun

Is anybody familiar with this Camino Real? I am asking because there is a $66 dollar room rate at the moment. The photos on line at their site look like a motel furnishings. I know Camino Real was always considered in the top category but I wonder if there is some problem there. Anyone know if there have been renovations to the property?

Hi Barbara,
We stayed at this hotel 2 or 3 years ago and found it to be perfect for what we were looking for.
The views are great, the beach is nice, it's close to everything and the rooms are clean and (I thought) well-furnished.
I'd grab that rate if I were you. We paid $115 (but that was for rooms in the Club Tower.)

Hi Brabra

This is a great hotel. Stayed there in August of this year and we loved it. We did upgrade to the tower because the rooms are better and you get a great breakfast. This hotel is located in my opinion in the best location the beach is all around you. The people are also very nice and helpful. I would stay there it is defenitely worth it.

This hotel also has one of my favorite restaurants in Cancun, "Maria Bonita". Great Mexican food, by ANY standard!

I didn't upgrade and I was soo sorry, our room was a dump, the bathtub was stained and gross and our balcony door wouldn't open. I would upgrade or choose another hotel.

My husband and I have been to Cancun many times and I love staying at the Camino Real. We have never upgraded to a Club Room and we have never had any problems with our room. The service is wonderful and they do a nightly turn down service with candy on your pillows. We have travel many place around the world and I can say this hotel has been on the top of my list.

I agree totally with Jen. We've stayed at Camino Real at least 15 times over the past 10 years and wouldn't stay anywhere else again. We always stay in the regular rooms. The bathrooms could use renovating, but the grounds, the staff, the beach, the location couldn't be better. It has an old mexico-type feel and fits in very well with the natural settings around it. If your looking for glitz, glamor, a gigantic concrete monstrosity and an overly Americanized hotel as many of the hotels are in Cancun, you won't be happy. I've heard good and bad comments from other people. It's all in what you're looking for in a hotel. Also, Maria Bonita and La Brisa Restaurants at the hotel are the best. Was there in September and just returned again last Tues. If you want more info or photos, let me know. It's my home away from home.
