Budget tips while traveling to Cancun??

Hi!

I've been in Cancun once but I'll go there again soon and I would like to know if you have any low budget tip, recommendation, places to visit or any useful information based on your experiences.

Thank you so much!

Yeah, don't stay in a Cancun. Stay in a comfortable local posada at a beach or Colonial town you choose. Eat at local restaurants, local foods. Visit cenotes, ruins, natural areas by ADO bus or rented car. See the "real thing", not the theme park version.

I didn't have any budget problems, not sure what you are seeking. Of course, I picked my hotel in advance and knew its rates, so no surprised. You have done the same, I presume. I guess it would be obvious to say you can use the local buses, not eat in expensive restaurants, etc.

I did enjoy going to Isla Mujera for the day, by ferry. Nice beaches there and a change of pace, really nice. SO think about that.

Same as anywhere else...

If you drink, by your beer, wine, booze/mixers at a grocery store and make your own.

Shop at a grocery store for food and eat picnic style.

Eat from street vendors and taco stands.

Also... stay in downtown Cancun instead of out in the hotel zone near or on the beach.

Look into staying in Playa del Carmen instead, only an hour south of the airport, and a bigger range of budget options than Cancun.
I would NOT recommend staying in Cancun Centro, parts of it are downright dangerous these days per a poster on another forum who lives in the area.
Tulum pueblo also has some budget options depending on what your budget per night for lodging is (which you do not state).
