Bosque del Cabo- please sell me on Casa Miramar

Hola!

We were hoping to stay in Casa Blanca at Bosque del Cabo for a week but it is booked for our dates. It is available for for a few nights earlier and we could split a week between Casa Blanca and Casa Miramar. I have not seen Casa Miramar and would really like to find out more about it. Also, we will be traveling with my mother who has some difficulty walking on uneven ground. Could anyone tell me what the trek back and forth to the lodge is like and if they have any type of cart that could transport her.

Thank you!!

sparkle, I don't know if you've seen it, but there's a great description and lots of photos on their website. We haven't stayed in Miramar, but from all the trip reports I've read, I'd expect lots of critters to visit because of the open floor plan. Hopefully tully will chime in for you with full details.

Hi Gem. I would be concerned about staying at Miramar if your mother has difficulty walking far. It is a 10 minute walk from the lodge to Miramar, and a section of that is up/down a somewhat steep hill, that is often slippery with mud & rocks. I know we often would stop at the huge tree stump halfway up just to rest for a moment & get our breathe back. They don't really have a cart to take her up and down but you could ask. Another thing to keep in mind is that Miramar is very open, so the wildlife comes to you, so to speak, much more than in the caninas. There are some pics of Miramar here (and also of Coco near the end) https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/1...21672991932161

Hi Volcano Girl and Tully!

Thank you for the replies! And your beautiful photos, Tully!

I guess that I can cross Casa Miramar off for this trip. I would be to difficult for my mom.

I am waiting, waiting to hear back from Bosque...

We stayed in Casa Miramar with my parents about a year or so ago. After one walk to the restaurant at night, on a somewhat damp road my mom said NO WAY was she doing that again! So, she asked them if they would drive her and of course the staff there had no problem picking her up for meals. You have a two way radio when you stay there, so when you're ready to be picked up for breakfast and dinner you can just buzz down to the front desk. I don't know if they minded coming to get my parents or not, but I think had she fallen on the road - they would have minded that even more! My dad likes to think he can get around better than he does and he walked more than she did, but he used the ride back most nights after dinner.

My parents loved the open aspect of Miramar - at first I think my mom was a bit shocked at just how open it was. But by the end, she found it so peaceful to be sitting on the deck, or by our own plunge pool watching the macaws and toucans!

Thank you ShellD. I read your wonderful trip report!

I think that the distance from the lodge would be too much for my parents. I am hoping that we can find a week available at Casa Blanca.

It is so hard to wait. I am ready to book and now I am just waiting to hear back.
