We are going to Belize for our 1st time this April with our 2 boys 5&9. We have plans to stay at Belizean Shores. The place looks beautiful, clean and is affordable. I would love to hear anyone's reviews. I don't see many reviews on this property. When was it built? Christi at Belize island vacations was great!

Belizeans Shores probably opened about three years ago. It's was built by people associated with Southwind, a real estate company in San Pedro, the same ones who built Coral Cay Villas and are doing some other development on the island.
Yes, it's a nice place -- huge pool, attractive units.
It is on North Ambergris, so you have to take a water taxi or hotel boat back to town, or a long bike or golf cart ride. That would be the drawback if you're the kind of person who likes to go to a different restaurant every night while on vacation.

thanks for the info. Aren't there decent resturants on the north end so we wouldn't have to go into town every night?
Yes, there are restaurants on North Ambergris -- in fact arguably the best restaurant on the island, Capricorn, is on North Ambergris. But there are no roads other than a golf cart path and distances between places are fairly large. It isn't that easy just to pop over to a restaurant at 8 p.m. when you are on North Ambergris.

When we arrived, our room was hot and full of mosquitoes. It was so bad that we went into town to buy some Off citronella candles and bug spray. As we went to dinner I stopped by the office to let them know that with the air conditioner on full blast and all the fans going the room was still 80 degrees. After dinner I stopped by the front office and they assured me it was fixed. Upon arrival back in our room we not only still had a mosquito problem, but now there were large ants everywhere on the floor. As I was stepping on them my wife noticed an army of small red bugs in the bathroom. As I searched around the room I also noticed there were, what appeared to be flying ants, all over the walls. The 1D unit was infested!
The staff quickly readied another room and we had to repack and move all of our stuff into the other unit. Fortunately there were no mosquitoes but the ant spray that was under the sink did come in handy that first night. If there had been an available flight home the next day we would have taken it. Thankfully for the remainder of the trip we had no additional bug problems.
Belize is an excellent place to get away and there are plenty of things to do both in San Pedro as well as in Belize City and the surrounding areas. We had an excellent time exploring and seeing the sights. The staff did an excellent job facilitating our participation in these activities and the people couldn’t be nicer.
We would go back to Belize/San Pedro but unfortunately would not stay at Belizean shores. I would have paid a little more to ensure I was able to stay in a bug free and well air-conditioned room.
The above poster may not have noticed the original posting was in 2005 - doubt the OP is here to read.
Having said that, we stayed at Belizean shores in February and had a delightful experience. The weather in Belize in July may possibly have contributed to the above experience.
If one does stay on this end of the island, be aware that we were able to purchase a weeklong pass for the water taxi at the landing - much more economical than paying each time - we zipped into town for a quick lunch almost every day as well as coming into town for dinner. For some reason ($$$) this pass is NOT advertised but we heard about it from some other people at another resort.
