Belize/ Tikal Itinerary Help!

Hi.
I'm planning a trip to Belize in December. Main interests are relaxing, scuba diving seeing Tikal and maybe a few other activities.

Would this itinerary make sense? Is it possible to move between locations by car (self drive)?

3 nights Turtle Inn
2 nights Ambergris (or other caye?)
2 nights La Lancha

I was considering Cha Creek as well- is this too much? Can someone compare Cha Creek area to La Lancha?

To return to US, would it make better sense to fly out of Guatemala? What is distance/ time between these places?

THANK YOU!

Xmas-New Years week is nearly sold out. It;ll be less money to fly in andout of Belize. Tkal is closer to Belize than to Guatemala City. Thats alot of moving around in 7 nights. I would pick TI or Ambergris and spent 3 nights at a junge lodge in Belize (like or close to Chaa Creek) Tikal and take a day trip to the site. But your schedule works too.

Katie,
Again, thanks! I think you are right.

If you had to chose between Portofino and Mata Chica which would you pick?

What about between La Lancha and Cha Creek? Is 2 nights sufficient here?

How do I get to/from these locations if we want to go ourselves?
Thanks!

My general rule of thumb (and recommendation to others) is to spend at least 3-4 nights in a spot. Allowing time for transitions, 2 nights = only 1 day - too hectic for me. With only 7 days I'd pick an inland spot (which I'd do 1st) and a beach or island spot. If you want to overnight to Tikal you could stay at Chaa Creek 3 nights, overnight in Tikal, then spend the last 3 nights on Ambergris or at the TI.

Is it worth it to overnight at Tikal? I'd stay at La Lancha.

Otherwise preferences between Blancaneaux and Cha Creek?
