Belize itinerary help

In the beginning stages of planning a trip to Belize in March. I think our two destinations will be Cayo District and Placencia. Does it make sense to rent a car in Belize City, head to the Cayo District first and then drive to Placencia from there? Other option is to fly to Placencia, rent a car there and then drive to Cayo. Any thoughts? we're traveling with an 8 year old and I'm just trying to keep things as simple as possible so we're not going back and forth to Belize City to get flights. Thanks

does it make sense to do Belize City, Cayo District, Placencia and then drive straight back to Belize City to catch our flight home? is that the best order to do things, or go straight down to Placencia, drive to Cayo District and then back to Belize City. Does it matter?

What times do your flights arrive and leave? Cayo District is closer than Placencia to the airport, might make a difference on which you put last. Otherwise we generally prefer to start inland and end on the water. I would try to avoid spending a night in Belize City if you can. If it's important to stay closer to the airport than Cayo or Placencia, I'd consider someplace like the zoo or the Community Baboon Sanctuary. Have a great trip, whatever you decide!

Ok thanks for the advice. I haven't purchased our tickets yet- waiting for prices to go down. I'll keep the timing of flights in mind when I book hotels. thanks!
