Base in Tamarindo..where to see nature

Hi!

My boyfriend and I are headed to Tamarindo Feb.20-24, and are staying at Los Altos de Eros.

We love nature and hiking, and are looking for things to do in the area that will be a nice half day trip or so-nothing too far or too expensive to arrange. Also, I've heard about the turtles on Playa Grande. Will they still be there at this time of year?
