Anyone have info on the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort? Amenities, accomodations, etc? Our travel agent says it is top-notch- I was curious if anyone has had first hand experience there?

Excellent place to go. Everything is so clean and new. Service is super and believe your agent. Very relaxing and peaceful. Never had to wait in line for anything. Lots of activities to do. We went in February the weather was great and the beach the best.

To the previous poster, what was the beach like? Where there lots of rocks? Good swimming? Good Snorkeling? All are important (I am helping my sister pick the best all-inclusive in the area). <BR> <BR>Would it be a good place for a honeymoon??? <BR> <BR>Thanks

There is over two miles of beach some areas are a little more crowed than others but there are lots of loungers so you didn't have to get to the beach early and reserve one. The snorkeling was good just off of the dock but limited to shallow water approx. 7 feet. There were excursions to better places but you had to book them. There weren't any rocks in the water and the beach was sandy. The water was warm and clean. There was lots of sun if you wanted and plenty of palm trees if you like the shade. The bars and restaurants were just a few steps away if you needed a refreshment. <BR>As for a honeymoon why not it has everything you would like, 6 restaurants, 8 bars, nightly entertainment, tennis, mini-putt, all the water activities, two large swimming pools and a friendly staff. <BR>Feel free to E-mail me if you want.
