Arenal to MA--too much driving for 7 days?

It was suggested in another post that maybe I should try to combine Arenal with something closer than MA. I guess two of those days would be mostly driving which really means 5 full days. Has anyone done both in 7 days, and was it too much? I'm open to any suggestions. Is Arenal the ONE too see more than other areas?

Thanks in advance.

It's about 3 hours from SJO to Arenal, about 4 from Arenal to MA, and about 4 from MA to SJO, so it's a bit of driving, but beautiful country. I've done similar legs in that time period and I thought it was fine.

I agree with hip. Your long drive will be Arenal to Manuel Antonio, maybe even closer to 5 hours. It's a fun drive, though, with several places to stop for refreshment or food. One notable place is the restaurant just prior to the Rio Tarcoles bridge, where you'll want to take a short walk to look over the side at the huge crocs basking in the sun.

Consider it part of your vacation. The drive from the airport to Arenal is pretty. On your return, back to SJO from Manuel Antonio, the scenery between Orotina and Atenas will take your breath away. That's not a bad thing!

I think you'd be fine with that time frame. In my book, Arenal is a don't miss.
