Arenal running lately?

I am leaving for CR in two weeks. First destination is Arenal. I am hoping to photograph it at night, but I have heard the volcano has been dormant for awhile. Has anyone been recently? Any Arenal activity? Thanks.

It hasn't had any visible lava flow for about two years. Still really beautiful during the day though.

If it starts up again, there'll be plenty of excited chatter about it coming out of boards like this, Tripadvisor, etc.

Hello, We are going to CR in late March. We have booked 2 days at Monteverde Cloud Forest and 3 days at Bosque de Cabo.

Do you have suggestions for other places of interest? Should we try to stay 1 night around Arenal?

thanks for your tips.

Absolutely not worth it. Save it for another trip--it just doesn't work with your current itinerary.

There's a lot to do in the Arenal area; most people stay at least three nights. I wouldn't go for just one. If there's a possibility of extending your time there then definitely go.
