I have been to many beautiful places but nothing compares to Ambergis Caye Belize-- does anyone have any suggestions for a Caribbean vacation where there is calm waters and no crowds???? Looking at Akumal or Cozumel in Mexico??? Any advice-Thanks.<BR><BR>

Coz uncrowded? Not by a long shot. On some days there are eight cruise ships or more in port, each vomiting 1500 to 2000 passengers (these days, sometimes literally). Akumal too is now quite developed, as is the entire Cancun-Tulum corridor. If you're going to the Yucatan, your best bet is probably farther south near Belize, say Xcalak area, though that's growing fast too.<BR><BR>In the main Caribbean, look at places like the BVI, Saba (though no real beaches) and Statia. THe Bay Island of Honduras are not overrun with tourists and they feel like Ambergris used to feel...By the way,on Cozumel, those thousands of tourists usually stay as far away from the water as possible...they RARELY go in...They are ashore to SHOP, SHOP, SHOP....DURING THE HOLIDAYS they DO take over the town but if you are in a hotel with a good beach/restaurant/s you'll never have to see them unless you go into town...You won't see them in any numbers snorkeling or diving...They don't want to get that hair wet!<BR><BR>Isla Mujeres, Mexico has the Ambergris feel but the snorkeling isn't good

Have twice now been to Roatan Bay, small island off the Honduras. Awesome place to go and lay on beach, dive or snorkel. Quiet, nothing much more to do though. Hope this helps. Look up on internet. I call this Beaches from Heaven. Darlene
