Ambergris Caye..condo suggestions
We've decided on Ambergris Caye and am interested in whether anyone has stayed at and/or can comment on the following places:Casa Caracol, Corona del Mar, Ramons, The Palms or the Cloisters? Or anyplace else we should consider. Travelling with 2 parents and son (22) daughter (19) Thanks!!

The only one of those you mention that I've stayed at is the Palms. I liked it a lot. The pool is small, and in the back, but it's nicely landscaped. Lots of loungers out front. Large verandas, nice condos. Close enough you can walk from the airstrip, if you don't have tons of luggage. Plane noise isn't a factor, they're just small planes coming and going during the daylight hours.
Ramon's is right next door. Most of their units are regular hotel rooms, although it's got great 'curb appeal', I think you'll get more for your money elsewhere.
The Cloisters is north of the cut, walkable into town, but you'd have to pay a toll if you have a golf cart. I think there's quite a bit of construction there as well.
I don't know much about Casa Caracol, looks nice when I've wandered by.
Corona del Mar seems like a nice friendly place. People are always inviting us to join them in a game of horseshoes when we wander by.
I'd also look at Xanadu, Banyan Bay and Banana Beach. There are several other condo complexes further south, Miramar, Pelican Reef, and I think another is Sunset Beach (could be wrong about that name though). If you stay at any of the latter three, I'd recommend a golf cart.

Here's a link to our trip report from San Pedro. We stayed at Banana Beach. The Around Ambergris Caye album has pictures of several of the place JeanH mentioned.

I'm with a group of 20 somethings, going in late June. We decided on Paradise Villas (also called Tradewinds Paradise Villas). They are condo type apartments, great pool, close to town. Great reviews and seems like a good place for kids our age.
Just my two cents! Hope you have a great trip!

We stayed at The Palms this past winter. We had a wonderful stay. It's on the nicest stretch of beach in San Pedro. Extremely convenient. You could get away without renting a golf cart, although they are fun to have to explore. Check out my review at Tripadvisor. Also lots of pix so you what our condo looked like. Have fun!!
