all-inclusive in PuertoVallarta

Happy Holidays!
Ok, now that Christmas is over, we're dreading the long cold winter and looking for an all-inclusive in PV where we can enjoy the sun, sand and warm weather! It's been a few years since we've been there, having stayed at the Presidente Intercontinental one year and the Qualton Club the next. We found the Presidente to be a beautiful hotel, but too far from town - we love wandering around the market, malecon and shops. Qualton Club had a good location, food and activities, can anyone suggest a great place to stay? I know a lot of people don't like the all-inclusives, but due to our limited budget, going the AI way, at least we know we won't starve or die of thirst! Thanks for your input, and here's to safe and happy travels in 2004!

try and check out fiesta americana I was there at the beginning of the month
had a few problems w/the front desk did not their attitude. (I am writing to the General Mgr) however they do offer an all inclusive pkg although I didn't do all inclusive we did eat breakfast and lunch and also ate at the hotel 3 nights the food was wonderful and also the drinks. I would definitely recommend this hotel just be aware of the front desk they are the worst set of people there and I have been going to P. Vallarta for 15 years. The hotel is beautiful and the rest of the staff was wonderful Good luck

Just returned from an 11 day stay at the Buenaventura Hotel and Beach Club and it was a wonderful vacation .A friendly staff, great location ,an 8 minute walk to the malecon(boardwalk). We had a great ocean front room. The food was good to great and we did an all-inclusive , although we had dinner out a few times..I will plan to return to this family friendly place. We walked to "old town" several times and when we got lazy or bought too many gifts we either took a 4 peso busride($.40) or a $2.50 taxi ride back to the hotel..Try Pipi`s for lunch or dinner..HAVE FUN

I can almost feel the hot sun on my face! Thanks for the info - these give me some hotels to start looking into. How were the beaches? Barry, glad you mentioned ocean front - We really would love an ocean view since we're from the upper midwest and can see grass and hillsides every day! We had an AWSOME view from the Qualton - 11th floor, I think it was. What did you all like best/least of your hotels? Thanks again!

Jib....the beach in front of the Buenaventura is great .The 3 pools and the patios provide a wonderful opportunity for sun although the "entertainment DJ" can be a little loud and distracting but the beach is a wonderful alternative...BE CAREFUL ...IF YOU DO GET A BEACHFRONT ROOM REQUEST AWAY FOM THE EVENING BAR THAT DRAWS A LATE CROWD..The front desk people as well as Sandy, the dining hostess were very friendly and anxious to please..enjoy

the premiere resort and spa is also ocean front adults only the swim-up bar is right next to the beach and I also think the buenaventura resort is from the same chain of resorts so i am sure you can go to both but the priemiere is a 5 star and the buenaventura is a 4 star... I think they are very close to each other ...

The Premiere is next to the Buenaventura and is owned by the same group...The kicker is the Premiere guests can use the Buenaventura dining privileges but the Buenaventura guests do not have the that privlege with the Premiere..Buenaventura is not as new or upscale and the crowd was younger and more "interactive"..

All the previous advice and replies are good.
There are so many nice places in PV that it is rather difficult to chose one over the other.
I have found that the ones nearer down town are more compact in their ground space and the ones further out.have more expansive grounds with beautiful gardens.
Something like in Acapulco..the downtown hotels are nice but they are closer together than the ones further out.
Just had friends come back from PV and they liked the Qualton Club.
Other liked the Royal Cameroon because of the lovely grounds.
Other liked the Blue Bay Getaway, because it was right down town..a 4 minute walk... so you see what I mean, it is whatever you want.
Hey, with the beach, Mexican sunshine, Corona beer, Mexican food, relaxtion, guess you cannot go worng.
Have a great time

There are a couple of all-inclusives down on Playa Los Muertos, the beach all the way on the southside of town (sometimes referred to as Zona Romantica or Old Town).

I'm not necessarily recommending them and don't think they are as 'nice' as the other hotels mentioned already here, probably 3-star at best. Two of these are San Marino Plaza and Hotel Playa Los Arcos. Just tossing out some other ideas.
