Airport Transfer suggestions from Cancun

I am flying into Cancun with my husband and infant around 3pm on a Friday. We are staying at Dreams Puerto Aventuras between Playa del Carmen and Cancun.

Any suggestions for how to get to our resort from the airport? Is this usually arranged directly through the resort or hire a cab/third party shuttle? Are there any accommodations for infants or should I plan to bring a carseat?

Thanks for your help!

I just used cancuntransfers.com for transfer between cancun and Chichen. Reasonable rates, met me at the airport, excellent service. Yes, you need to bring your own carseat.

If you booked a package deal, your transportation may already be inlcuded. Check that first.
If not, we always use Cancun Valet. Do NOT go with anyone inside the airport after you go through customs. They will all tell you they are your ride. They are time share sales paople. Your transportation representative will wait right OUTSIDE the door from the airport.

I've used USA Transfers 3 times, they are great, $130 per van RT to Akumal, probably a bit less to Puerto Aventuras. I believe they do provide car seats but cannot guarantee them so you might want to bring your own.

The Cancun airport is quite an experience. Do fill out the entrance form correctly, do not miss a line or they will yell at you and move you to the side. The luggage is x-rayed again before you LEAVE the airport. Long lines...bring your stroller. Then you pass thru a gauntlet of salespeople in blue shirts..Do NOT ask them any questions or you will get stuck with them.
We had shared transportation from our hotel. Big mistake. We waited in the hot sun until they filled the van. Do have private transportation. USA Transfers seemed to have lots of vehicles and was efficient.

Does anyone have a phone number for USA Transfers? I want to ask them a question but can't seem to find a number of the website referenced by several people above. Thank you!

I would just email them with your question, that is normally how they prefer to do business and they usually get back to you the same day. When you book, you will get two emails, one for transfer to hotel with the amount due and the second for your return to the airport showing zero balance. Print them both and take them with you. If you prefer, you can also pay in advance using PayPal, but you have to email them for this option and then they will send you a link to their PayPal account. I have paid cash, last time paid in advance.

You will get a phone number to call them if your flight is cancelled after you book.

Anyone know anything about Olympus Tours? I booked my vacation package through cheapcaribbean.com and that is who they offer transportation through. It's definitely cheaper, but I don't know if anyone has experience with them. Thanks for all of your help!

I just thought I would follow-up to say that we ended up using Olympus Tours for our airport transportation and were very happy with them. This is the company that partners with cheapcaribbean. We booked directly through cheapcaribbean because it was less expensive. We booked a shared shuttle. On the way to the hotel, my husband and I shared a shuttle with two other couples, so there were three stops total. Unfortunately, we were the last stop, but the additional stops probably only added 20 minutes to the ride (we were going all the way to Puerto Aventuras). For the cost-savings compared to the private shuttle, it was totally worth it. On the back back to the airport, we actually were a party of four and were the only group in the shuttle, so we went straight there - awesome!
I would certainly recommend them. The staff was very friendly and offered us bottle water as well.

The latest and greatest shuttle service in that area seems to be Canada Transfers. Great rates and terrific service. You can even order beer or water for your ride!

We've used USA transfers also. The website that I found for them is http://www.usa-transfers.com/. We were happy with them the first two times we used them. Last time we arrived. it was raining and it took them a little bit longer to get our private car than we wanted. They were affordable and I think we would book them again.

We used Canada Transfers last November they were great.. greet you with cold wet cloths.. and fill cooler with beer or sodas you pre order ( cheap too.. like a buck each or similar) .
When it was time for return trip they were ten minutes early.. and while we left our resort ( Grand Bahai Akumal) about 20 minutes after the the big bus package transfer left..we arrived at airport way ahead of them..so nice to walk up to the check in desk.. by the time we were checked in the bus just pulled up.. unloading 50 folks that we would have been in line with!

We paid when we arrived.. so didn't need to prepay( which I like in case of company no show) .Driver was polite and chatted as we drove along. Bus was a mini van.. just for our family of 5, comfy and had good airconditioning!!

Next time you can compare transfers quickly with www.cabdrome.com .
If price is not yet compared, you can ask them to ask quotations for you and they alert you when done it freely (theoretically they do it shortly..).

i believe it important to note that Puerto Aventuras is not between cancun and playa del carmen. PA is actually 15 minutes south of playa. it is a closed gate community and we often stay in a condo on the marina. there are but 4 AI hotels in that community and you will most certainly enjoy your stay. For the record most travellers stop off in playa and then make other arrangements to get to PA. If you do hire a company make sure that the price includes travelling straight from the airport to PA

I really don't think it matters since this thread originated almost three years ago. I'm sure they found their way to Puerto Aventuras long ago.

From Cancun Airport, I would use USA transfers. As soon as you walk out of the terminal, they have reps everywhere. Wish we would've used them. We used discovery mundo, and it wasn't a good experience. Had to track them down both on arrival and departure. Not a good way to start or finish a vacation.
