Air from Orange County to Puerto Vallarta

Does anyone know if there is a non-stop from SNA to Puerto Vallarta? How about Ontario or Long Beach airports?

Thanks,

Lynnie

I don't know if there is one...I'm in (south) OC too, and the last time we flew to PV, we left from San Diego on an America West nonstop. I just did a very quick search, and for some reasons, options are limited. I'd check directly with alaskaair and americawest at their websites. Good luck.

I assume you are trying to avoid LAX? I know there are nonstops from there, because it is often the connection for me coming down from Seattle.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to check alaska and AW. Yes, I try to avoid LAX. I don't know whether it's easier to go to LAX and fly non-stop or go SAN and change planes.

Depends where the change is. If you have to go to Mexico City and spend much time there, well for me I'd rather suck it up at the start of the trip and get to LAX somehow.

I would consider an overnight in San Diego and a nonstop TIJ - PVR on on one of the new MX startups:
volaris
interjet
as well as aerolitoral and aviacsa.

For what it's worth, I just had a hellacious time finding flights out of Puerto Vallarta in November. Not sure why. I finally had to settle on a 7am Sunday morning flight .... ugh.

Check out www.sidestep.com - it will tell you what's available. I've also flow to PV from Tijuana; this was in the late 80's; the fare much better.
Good luck!

i agree, hissurfer, the schedules down to Mexico are no good at all, and the prices are high...it's too bad.

The Aviacsa fares from TIJ-PVR are not bad.
I found a rt fare TIJ-BJX (BJX is our home ap)on Volaris in July for 6 Sept-20 Sept. for $62. US incl taxes - a brief screaming bargain.

I am back to let you know that there is no non-stop out of SNA. San Diego seems like it would be the best bet, but I can't get down there early enough and I need to be home the morning I leave to sing happy birthday to my 17-year old. ( I won this trip and cant choose the dates myself). So it looks like a plane change for me. DRAT!

I'd encourage you to reconsider flying out of LAX. If you have to do a plane change in Mexico, a nonstop from LA (even factoring in the hassle or getting there) you might still come out ahead.
