10 Days in Belize and Guatemala

Hi all,

I had previously posted topics about travelling to Latin America. My friend and I have decided to fly into Belize on 12/5 and reach there at 11:36 AM and fly out at 2:40 PM on 12/14. We are also considering travelling to Guatemala. My questions:

1) Is it possible to do both Belize and Guatemala in these 10 days?
2) What are some must see sights?
3) What would you recommend as a proposed itinerary?

Thanks in advance!!

Our favorite thing in Belize has been the amazing snorkeling at Hol Chan. We stayed on Ambergris, and it's a quick boat ride out. Shark Ray Alley is also popular. For ruins, we loved going to Lamanai and Tikal.

Flying in and out of BZE will work. I'd head to Cayo District for 3-4 nights for caving and Maya sites, spend at least 1 night in the park at Tikal, then finish up on Caye Caulker or Ambergris Caye. I'd save the Guatemala highlands for a future trip.

Both times we've gone to Belize, we've done a split between jungle time and beach time, and that's worked for us. We did Tikal as a day trip. Like hopeful, I would personally save Guatemala for another trip unless you just have your heart set on it. There's plenty in Belize to keep you busy. For jungle time, we've done Chaa Creek - they also have a jungle camp, and have also stayed at Lamanai Outpost Lodge - they have lots of scheduled activities and are on a nice river with a lot of wildlife. Ambergris is a good choice if you want snorkeling trips and lots of good dining choices.
