Why are the Canary Islands under Africa and Mid East?

I have never understood why they are under Africa since they are as much a part of Spain as Andalusia or Catalonia are.
Maybe geographically they are African but clearly they are a two Spanish areas, and people look for them under Europe.
Why are the Azores and Madeira OK under Europe but the Canaries not?
