You should re-post this on the Europe board. Also, all of the London airports have websites with detailed info on transport. Google.
London Airports- Heathrow, Stansted, Gatwick and City Airport. Which airport is closest isn't all that useful as you shall not be walking to your destination. Which airport is best situated with regards to public transport links is far more useful.
All airports used by budget airlines have budget buses to the centre of London. So take your pick.
Travelodge have a sale on RIGHT NOW( ?? www.travelodge.co.uk) . The rooms are cheap from £12 (but scarce, you'll likely pay £30 or so) clean and scattered across London. Good luck.
skyscanner, net best flights ryanair.com cheapest usually
airports way away from center but terravision.com cheap shuttles.eurocheapo.com/London or londontown.com for clean budget hotels
"All airports used by budget airlines have budget buses to the centre of London. So take your pick."
not exactly true --and even if there are buses, they often aren't the best option.
Fly Easyjet from BCN to LGW (Gatwick) and take the Gatwick Express train into the city to Victoria Station where there are numerous budget hotels. There is a tube stop at Victoria Station with quite a few tube lines to get you around town. Buy an Oyster card to save money on buses and the tube.Victoria is within walking distance to Buckingham Palace,St. James Park and Green Park,plays,Westminister/Big Ben,etc. If you are trying to go budget this would probably be the best place for price and easy access. If you have a short time in the city then catch the on/off bus at Victoria Station and take that around the city. Start it after 12 noon and then you can get two days out of its use so you can get off and see things.
Easyjet is a budget airline that is reliable, has more frequent service and is much more doable to fly than Ryanair who nickels and dimes you to death.Gatwick and Heathrow are the easiest airports to deal with if you are coming from outside of the UK,(in my opinion).
Have fun!I have two/two day layovers in Barcelona next week and the week after for my job so am hoping for sun?
