Please, please let this be wrong!
Barack Obama does not seem to know that in May 2007, French voters elected Nicolas Sarkozy to the French presidency, to succeed Jacques Chirac who had been president for twelve years.
Barack Obama wrote a letter to Jacques Chirac to tell him about his desire to "work with him" for the next four years !
In a letter described by Chirac as "very nice," Obama wrote, "I am certain that we will be able to work together, in the coming four years, in a spirit of peace and friendship to build a safer world."
This revelation was made by the online edition of the daily Le Figaro on Thursday.
I wonder if someone had told him, when he came to France last summer, that the man he met was NOT Jacques Chirac !

Barack Obama a écrit à Jacques Chirac

The American president has just addressed a letter “very likable” to Jacques Chirac, according to the expression of the latter. “I am certain that we will be able during the four years to come to collaborate together in a spirit of peace and of friendship in order to construct a surer world”, writes the successor of George W. Bush to the predecessor of Nicolas Sarkozy. While evoking the word of “peace”, Obama returns an implicit homage to the action of the French former president that had opposed itself to the war in Iraq. An American intervention against which the future president American had opposed itself as senator, at the time of the vote to the Congress.
But tjem it was Sarkozy who called Obama "naive” or was it "dangerously naive" when BO was on his magic carpet ride in Europe?
hummmm ... dvd's of movies for a legally blind PM of Britian and now ...

What? Link please. Furthermore, he might actually want to work with Chirac. As Sarko is an unmitigated disaster.
Beach...give it a rest and stop being a crank. It's far beneath you.
We are in the very best of hands.
By the way, the DVDs he gave to Gordon Brown do not work in UK DVD players.
lol.
Good job on the DVDs. The video to Iran was enthusiastically received as well!!
Fantastic all around.
"We are in the very best of hands."
I supposed the shaky hands of John McCain could have provide some type of "relief". If you know what I mean.
racaille:
Wow! Not being cranky but in case you didn't notice McCain LOST ... so we don't have to worry about his "shakey hands" that I guess all old folks have ... so get over it! No, I don't know what you mean.
lefigaro.fr/international/
Of course he could want to work with the former President of France but it's just that NEW President (well, not so new) of France has been aching to visit and meet with him for some time especially with the G20 rapidly approaching.
As I said, I hope the "report" is wrong ... and le Figaro does have a bit of a conservative slant to it.
" No, I don't know what you mean."
That's understandable.
"As I said, I hope the "report" is wrong ... and le Figaro does have a bit of a conservative slant to it."
I still do not see the link. All my French news site provide zero confirmation.

lol.
google it if you can't read the French at the link I provided ... maybe you'll find reports in English.
Why would Obama send a letter to Chirac? Why slight, snub, the current President? Especially IF he learned anything from his tx of Brown!
Too funny, when you google "Obama writes letter to Chirac", the first entry is this thread (good job Fodor's for the improved googlocity of the new format).
It is closely followed by a PUMA favorite "No Quarter".
Larry Johnson refers to Obama as a "Retard" and the following story criticizes Obama for the Special Olympics comment on Leno.

Oh, the irony.

"Barack Obama does not seem to know that in May 2007, French voters elected Nicolas Sarkozy to the French presidency, to succeed Jacques Chirac who had been president for twelve years."
this must be one of the most ridiculous statements in the sea of petty , mean spirited, stupid comments some people have made on this forum about politicians from both parties ( and their spouses, and the clothes of their spouses , and their pregnant daughters, and the boyfriends of their daughters...
I don't think people should post things like this unless they KNOW for SURE they are true.....and that goes for any comment durogatory or complimentary about anyone. I'm tired of innuendo, half truths, no truths, unnamed sources, people not authorized to speak to the press leaking "information", and blogger BS.
Thank you cre.
thereyet
I agree with Cre 100% if you don’t have the facts don’t start a thread.
Gosh! I just did it and NoQuarter didn't even show in the first 25 entries ... but I wouldn't rely on the bloggers at his site anyway - and never did! Never even reaized that he had a PUMA site since his other site certainly is not.
But there is all sorts of links that come up, some four thousand of them ... 4,640 of 'em ... freerepublic, thenation, politico ... and I wouldn't expect the left to cover it as it is not very complimentary of The Precious.
cre:
LOL ... I had to laugh because if we did that the board would disappear! Combine what you suggested with guesses at the motivations of the actors, and the guesses as the motivations of the posters, and the WORM posters there would be little left to post!
And if one cannot take a bit of poking - instead of being the poker - one doesn't need to be here at all!
Here's where beachplum plagiarized from this time:
http://europumas.over-blog.com/article-29271371.html
"google it if you can't read the French at the link I provided ... maybe you'll find reports in English."
You have hit bottom.
oh goodie!! jah can use google too ...
I guess we should use unfounded accusations in that as well, cre!
europumas? LOL .... what is this obsession with PUMAs? Or is that where you guys hang out so you can see posts where Hillary got a standing ovation for her Global Trailblazer Award for Empowering Women all over the Globe along with women and men from all over the world the same they were being upstaged by Motormouth on Leno? Anyone even mention that? Funny how those dates just coincided, right? Did either of those sites mention that? I really wouldn't know or care.
by golly, what's the population of the world and someone actually says something - or my g_d! even thinks something the same as someone else! From the koolaid drinkers no less who've not had an original thought in 2 years! LOL
I shall try to abide by the KoolKids rule that they are the only ones allowed to start threads here ... but meanwhile, I'll still keep watching for real change and that big happy bi-partisan party!
Gotta love it!
Comes right up for me....

Naw, rac, as long as you occupy that spot, I'll never quite make it!
Happy Day!

You mean, you will keep watching for blog posts to steal and call your own?

I thought you just applauded cres suggestions, ty?
Does it really bother you that much that you can't find mine? LOL
I seriously mean that - we need change and I look forward to the day that the change FOR the BETTER happens. G_d knows we need it badly ... just hoping for it isn't gonna get it done.
Besides aren't you supposed to be knocking on doors today?
lol. How's the Pledge Project going??!!?
I'm much too serious about all of this, so plum, perhaps you are right, but I find little humor in "today's goings on", it's affecting my life, and the lives of my family and friends, and my employees in very negative ways.
Cres:
No explaination necessary. Know where you are coming from ... just talked to my daughter in Greenwich and she's not happy ... they've just laid off some 200 from the NYC and CT offices alone - who knows how many world wide and more to come in something that is "recession proof" and my son in DC had 50 let go from his firm. I also closed my store that many depend on from women's cooperatives world wide ... weaving and needlework from Peru, Carib artisans, Native American crafts and even some quilts and other items from the poorest parts of our own country. It's all got to be sent back and they count on state-side retail for their income. I feel horrid! (maybe I'm just ignoring that because ... it's easier)
But meanwhile ... I just clicked ty's link and guess what came up ...
Lounge Forum | Fodor's ...6 posts - 1 author
Barack Obama wrote a letter to Jacques Chirac to tell him about his desire ... writes the successor of George W. Bush .
followed by the newrepublic link!
I even went to "NoQuarter" and damned if I see the topic there ... not one headline in the two pages that I skimmed ... and won't go to the PUMA site as I don't go when I am unfamiliar with the site and it is unknown to me ... usually I won't even click on strange links ...
so, for the ususal suspects, keep howlin' ...
"I'll never quite make it!"
Don't be bitter. It's not good for your chemical imbalance.
Beachplum, you copied your post word-for-word from this PUMA site, right down to the extra spaces before the exclamation points:
http://europumas.over-blog.com/article-29271371.html
And it's interesting that you can't tell the difference between freerepublic.com and The New Republic.
Oh so not is it okey doke to use the disabled special needs kids as a weapon and mock them on national teevee, we're back to the nasty comments about mental health problems and the implication that the "mental health" (aka chemical imbalance) of anyone who dares disagree with him is in question ! Thus using those who suffer from dibilitating mental illnesses to mock someone. Nice! It's a shame not everyone is as "stable" and "insightful" as you ... how's that rarified air way up there? I guess I called it wrong ... you stoop to the bottom of the barrel but pretend that you are aloof from it all! There is a diagnosis for that, you know!
It's not my endorphins that soar and go outta whack whenever I hear the words of Teh Precious! There's also a diagnosis for that! But maybe they should - they are also good for controlling pain!
How come you aren't out door-to-door today? What happened to the "grassroots" and "Organizing America?" More words, I guess. NO action. Sorta like all hat and no cattle.
and BS on you jah ... opps! did see that I posted newrepublic instead of free but it was already posted ... that's something that I do all the time ... did you happen to see it on freerepublican and the 4 thousand other sites???
You'll do and say anthing to try to discredit me! and I think most people are aware of it ... go play elsewhere ... I'm not interested ... ------------ yawn!! You'd think that his record would be worn out by now! Wonder why the interest? You see the posts here from Kos and the other Obot sites and not a word is mentioned ... who cares? Jeeze!
Get a life!
Or you figure that if you cause enough stir, they'll pull it or have you already run to the principal?
The funniest part is not that it was copied word for word from the puma site, they're still out there imagining every possible slight to hillary as possible.
What's hilarious is that it also comes up on no quarter and I've been reading the comments there - the best is the one that Pres Obama's bowling remark was also a subtle elitist snub of average, middle class people who bowl, lol.
<<You'll do and say anthing to try to discredit me! >>
You really do that to yourself. Jah just has no problem pointing out that fact.

"It's a shame not everyone is as "stable" and "insightful" as you"
Yes it is.
" ... how's that rarified air way up there?"
Fabulous.
"I guess I called it wrong ... you stoop to the bottom of the barrel but pretend that you are aloof from it all"
I am. It's call pragmatism.
"is a diagnosis for that, you know!"
Yes...but I will humble myself this time.
"It's not my endorphins that soar and go outta whack whenever I hear the words of Teh Precious! There's also a diagnosis for that! But maybe they should - they are also good for controlling pain!"
Step back from the precipice.
"How come you aren't out door-to-door today?" What happened to the "grassroots" and "Organizing America?" More words, I guess. NO action. Sorta like all hat and no cattle."
What did I tell you about being bitter?
Stay safe.
"You'll do and say anthing to try to discredit me!"
Dear lady, seem to be doing a fine job by your little self!
What would Precious do without the 0bama Legacy Keepers who are on the lookout for any citizen who dares question him. Do you get a red star on your beanie for every poster you(lol) "discredit"?
"Or you figure that if you cause enough stir, they'll pull it or have you already run to the principal?"
I would hate to see that happen. This thread is among your all-time classics, and should be preserved for posterity.
"I would hate to see that happen. This thread is among your all-time classics, and should be preserved for posterity."
Well they are trying to build the George W. Bush "Libary".
Maybe it could be placed in the Archive Hall, right next to his diploma from AA and the MBA from Harvard.
Bwahahahahah.
Wow! she just keeping rolling along ... and now she's going after AA ... alcoholic anony altho Bush was never a member and one never "graduates." His drug besides the ETOH was the same choice as the current President, cocaine.
Bitter? That's funny too ... You see he can never disappoint me because like him his expectations for himself are pretty low. Any pluses or positive accomplishments and surprises will definitely give cause for celebration.
Seems to me in the love-fest you'd be out there with the millions of others knocking on doors and doing what he said. Did you even watch the tape or the you-tube of it? Guess not, since you won't answer the question and continue to spew!
Sorry, nothing to be bitter about ... anger does nothing but waste time and energy ... but I remember the Democratic party when it didn't enjoy mocking others - especially those who were also Democrats. I don't happen to think that imitating the right is the answer - nor accepting the right's principles or values and style but the "new" Dimocrats think differently - it's Kool for them! The very same tbings that they screeched about that the republicans were doing, they are now doing themselves! Somehow they are getting a perverse joy out of class warfare - but picking on the "rich" instead of the "poor" - and watching our entire economy circle the drain. All those little needy souls who will never hope to see the incomes that some have, who came by them honestly and with hard work, are the ones who are bitter, jealous and envious. They have to put others down, no matter how unfortunate, because they feel lousy about themselves and do it to prove to themselves that they are in all ways, even smuggly morally, superior while they cheat and lie.
Wow Beach...it seems like you are having quite a cathartic moment here at Fodor's.
Maybe a warm bath, a glass of sherry, and a rerun of the Golden Girls is in order?
A+
Wow! and she goes for a twofer! Not only old people but women too ...

shall we start a list:
1. okay to slam intellectually challeged and disabled folks who participate in the Special Olympics
2. the psychiatric population - especially the bipolar but I suspect she really meant the manic.
3. recovering alcoholics
4. old people - shakey or not
5. women
6. must not forget those who actually got an MBA at Harvard - how come we know Hillary's law exam results and her thesis, Palin's school records, and McCain's ranking but absolutely nothing about BO's school/education record?
7. "rich" people
8. might include those whose first language is French or those who can read it
9. did she go for Palin too? Or maybe just the Down baby she had or her pregnant daughter?
blah! blah! blah! LOL
Keep it rolling ... sure beats the stinky b'ball games on teevee! And we still don't know why she's not out pushing the propoganda on BO's budget!
Sherry? Naw, why would I drink something that I use exclusively for cooking? Now a nice brandy might do ... you sure spend a lot of time suggesting drinking - maybe that's your way of dealing with your anger? Don't need no stinkin' bath either. Despite what everyone says liberals bathe everyday and did back in the '60's too!
I admit that I no longer read bp's lengthy posts. But when I do read the first paragraph or so, invariably I find that she constantly posts rumor and innuendo with a little disclaimer "don't know if this is true or not, but..." That and the plagiarism just make me feel sad for her. How desperate must you be to go these lengths?
You people aren't very resourceful, are you? It took me all of forty seconds to find the article:
http://www.lefigaro.fr/actualites/2009/03/19/01001-20090319ARTFIG00357-confidentiel-barack-obama-a-ecrit-a-jacques-chirac-.php
...just make me feel sad for her...
If you're implying you "care" somehow, I don't believe that for a second. You are *irritated* because she constantly questions our bumbling prez; how desperate you fragile 0bots must be that you can't tolerate it. It's entertaining.
Oh, I'm not fragile nor do I feel particularly protective of Obama. You are right though, I don't feel sad for bp and misspoke. I feel that she is intellectually dishonest and will do anything to smear Obama. It is very transparent except to those who will not see.
Fidel and bp....are in a very small group of malcontents...who I find entertaining.

I saw the article and got bits and peices from it, my french isn't good enough to get it all.
I offer this -

Clueless
jeanniejo offers a fair and balanced view of Obama in which the writer refers to our President as a grinning chimpanzee. Nice of you to jump in here on Fodor's and offer that point of view with your very first post. Now we know just where you are coming from.
What an interesting website jeanniejo has brought to our attention. Check out this charming post about Natasha Richardson and "her crank family of English perverts":
http://lamecherry.blogspot.com/2009/03/beyond-sodom.html
If President Obama drives these people so crazy after 60 or so days....imagine what blubbering, drooling idiots they will look like in 4 years.
thereyet
It is always so interesting how a "new" poster like jeanniego manages to "find" Fodor's which is basically a travel website and to "find" the Lounge to post a political post as the very first post. I always wonder what the "new" poster's last screen name on Fodor's was and why that person changed their screen name.
"If President Obama drives these people so crazy after 60 or so days....imagine what blubbering, drooling idiots they will look like in 4 years.
"
It quite obvious that the campaign took a considerable toll on the "Plagiarizer-in-Chief".
Similar to the gwb apologists, even when caught "red-handed" on numerous occasions, the lame excuses continue.
We'll know the P-in-C is completely loony when they begin to blame Pres. Clinton in the same manner gwb apologists continue to do.
MvK
Forgive me, but I just can't resist sharing one more tidbit from jeanniejo's website:
http://lamecherry.blogspot.com/2009/03/die-alten-kerben.html
"This is a death struggle initiated by the Ashkenaz of the Japheth line of the sons of Noah, who settled in central Asia at one time before converting to a form of Judaism looking to now rid the world of Judeans and Sephardic Jews, riding on the back of a Shemite line which was discarded by God in the Assyrian Babylonians making war on the Abrahamic Biblical line of the lost 10 Tribes.
"In modern translation of players, it is the Ashkenaz financiers of the Rothschild and Rockefeller syndicate attempting to rid the Israeli state of Judeans and religious Jews, so they can have full control, leading the German Assyrian and Italian Babylonian immigrants against the Josephite British and Americans in Israel's wife Rachael and against the first born son, Reuben, who just so happens to inhabit the majority of France."
"I saw the article and got bits and peices from it, my french isn't good enough to get it all."

the article never suggested that BO believed Chirac is the present French president as the OP implied:
"Barack Obama does not seem to know that in May 2007, French voters elected Nicolas Sarkozy to the French presidency, to succeed Jacques Chirac who had been president for twelve years."
Wow J, those two sentences say it all about that "blogger".
thereyet
Let's seen now...Had I (or ANY of us Liberals for that matter) written a letter to Pres. Clinton in late 2001 expressing my gratitude for all he had done for out nation and was looking forward to working with him in the future to better the lives of our fellow Americans (and human all over the globe), the OP would have stated "Please, please let this be wrong!"

The OP's hatred of Pres. Obama knows absolutely no bounds. Maybe it is just MEN in general that the OP hates?
Given the OP's vastly superior intellect, we should all be humble in the OP's presence and feel honored to be subjected to the OP's immense capacity to cut and paste from PUMA blog sites.
MvK
Damn! MvK OUTS me again! Yea, I hate all men ... after all, I've hated every single President throughout history! After all, the only reason to support a woman would be because one hates men! G_d forgive the women who dare to step out of their duly prescribed gender roles!
Also, as a founding mother of PUMA I support all things PUMA - even the PUMA's that support BO - and, of course, my superior intellect, like rachille, is obvious because of the rearified air I breathe in looking down on all the "little people!" Frankly, I'm even having trouble remembering what PUMA stands for! but I am ever so invested and have been since the RBC ignored the voters. LOL
You betcha I'll call him out when he does somethng stupid or ignorant. The "great communicator" my PUMA! Or when he continues with Bush policies - whether it be leaving troops in Iraq and using sematics as his reasoning or using Bush's blueprints and supplicants to spur economic "recovery." I guess it worked so well for them! It's too bad that other so-called "Democrats" don't hold him accountable. But then just like Bush, he is a product of privledge and has not a clue - nor is he interested in - wide swaths of the population. It's all about running and running and now that he has officially begun his campaign for 2012, let's hope he can take some time from the campaign trail to actually govern. He didn't bother being a Senator once he was elected that either - he immediately began running for President stating that he was unqualified and inexperienced. But don't forget those all those "present" votes in the State Senate on important issues. I never realized that a President had a "present" vote, by taking both sides of the same issue, previously but he did promise change!
Thankfully Clinton intervened and told him to cut the crap about the economy ... but he continues to run and run at the mouth - can he actually go a week, or a day, without commanding the airwaves and listening to his own voice? After the gaffes by now you'd think he'd be smart enough to realize not everyone thinks his snarky sarcasm is particularly funny - other than Obots, Of course! Oh! he's brilliant! At least he bowls better than the special needs population so he must be smarter too!
Even some of the star-struck media is catching on! Even the NYTimes:
... he has backpedaled on an array of issues, gingerly shifting positions as circumstances dictate while ducking for political cover to avoid undercutting his credibility and authority. That’s happened on the Iraq troop withdrawal timeline, on lobbyists in his administration and on money for lawmakers’ pet projects.
And it too can't help but make up excuses for him.
In yet another article, it mentions
From giving contradictory statements on the economy to making gaffes about the Special Olympics, team Obama has lost the communications magic that propelled it to the White House.
ah! but what do they matter ... lol ... the press is all failing and will be in line for a bailout next! They better be nice to him or he won't let them on his plane or his trips or even invite them to his little Wednesday cocktail parties if they don't play nice ... much less arrange a bailout for them as he did for his Wall Street friends and those who swept him into office. They might even mention that he has yet to spend a weekend in DC!
But then he mocked both Bush and McCain for saying the "economy is fundamentally sound" as did his supporters and then just this week he enlisted the Obot Army to blanket the airways and go door-to-door. Even Christina Romer, head of the Council of Economic Advisers, on the Sunday talkshow circuit said that “The fundamentals are sound” in response to the week before when Peter Orszag said it was week. Geithner's "plan" is more the same ... a million here, a trillion there ... go read Krugman or Gailbrith!
But it took awhile for the Klub to arrive and not all have yet ... and it's just a coinkydink that someone can google and find an obscure site with a similiar statement to mine and yet and can't find out of the over four thousand listed, neither of which comes up when I google (that I do not use), an alternate source of the "story."
You have absolutely NO knowledge of my support or lack thereof of President Clinton and in fact, I was quite energized when BO promised that he was different - he was not a DLC'er nor even a corportist. But if you are using Clinton as a measure of one's "liberal" positions, you are standing on the pier and that ship has so long ago sailed. It wasn't until HE attacked The Clinton's healthcare using the very same memes and propaganda that the right used to attack it that his true colours became evident. And he is still intellectually dishonest when painting healthcare as an either or - either complete gov't control of healthcare or the private insurance industry continuing what we have now when he isn't discussing health care policy at all but only how much we'll be required to pay - that doesn't get many who can even afford to pay the insurance companies' ransoms now one ounce of CARE.
But we could also discuss his "liberal" or even left positions on things like the social safety net, social security, medicare, medicaid, or even education:
Wowsie! that covers it.
Hate the man? No way! He is doing exactly what he promised to do. How far will he go to "fundamentally" change the country? I hoped that he was just pandering to the right, that was his campaign positions to get the right and the "Indies" (and the libertarians) to vote for him, after all he even admitted that getting the "dog" was just a campaign promise with sarcasm, he thought that his reneigning on campaign promises was funny! One big YUCK! And I just keep waiting for him to prove me wrong!
it's Bush's fault we are where we are today ... and it'll be the right's fault if "he" fails. He has set it up just like the right did with it all being Clinton's fault. Better to place blame on the opposition rather than actually be proactive and do things differently. He spent at least 6 months bad-mouthing the economy before his crowning and then wondered what happened as everything collapsed? When he did nothing but support Bush and work with Bush to make sure Bush got a lot of Christmas goodies under the tree before he left. Why in the very first stimulus bill wasn't the contracts discussed - and, I'll bet not one person here is even aware that Edward Liddy when he was CEO of All-State broke the contract of every single agent that was employed ... cutting those who had been employees for their entire working lives out of the company, their pensions and their health care making them all "independent contractors!" That suit is still wandering thru the courts.
No, he better succeed ... but he better succeed at changing the course of the country and so far there is little evidence of it! And all he's done is smoke and mirrors - more smoke and mirrors - first he's for the bonuses, then against and now he's just not sure ...
When you sit on a fence, you get splinters in your tuschie! Or go down the middle of the road, you wind up as road kill!
No time for hate! But that has been the same strategy throughout his career. Use 'em and then when they aren'tuseful anymore, lose 'em. Divde - the politics of division and diviseness and use any one and everyone to do it - just like Alinsky preached. He indeed may have taught Alinsky's menthods, and uses them inside and out, but he uses them ONLY for his own gain and climb for power not for the gains of the community. Too funny ...
A White House spokesperson announced that President Barack Obama will appear in the final episode of this season's 24 as Maj. "Chuck" Harrison, who reads the eulogy at the memorial service for Bill Buchanan.
The spokesman noted that the President had just wrapped up successful appearances on the Jay Leno Show, 60 Minutes and town hall meetings in California, and that he was preparing for his guest appearance on American Idol on Monday.
'It will a brief appearance, to wish the remaining contestants well and explain to the Idol audience that he had no ill will for Simon Cowell by likening him to the U.S. Congress.'
When a Reuters reporter asked for comment on the rumor that President Obama will be a contestant on next season's Dancing With the Stars, the spokesperson replied, "No comment at this time," but added that the President's agent was currently in negotiation with an as-yet unnamed production company for a minor part for the President in a remake of Hawaii Five-0.
As to the President's media engagements for April, the spokesperson said that aside from the weekly radio broadcasts, 50 town hall meetings, an appearance Dr. Phil, Live with Regis and Kelly, 60 Minutes, The View, two appearances on Meet the Press and a talk show in Tehran, the President's schedule is open.

could well be a PUMA too ... have no idea but this is really funny!
"You betcha I'll call him out when he does somethng stupid or ignorant."
the problem with your original post was that he did NOT do anything stupid or ignorant - he just wrote a letter to a former president of France .
Constructive, intelligent criticism is always a "good thing".
Not much of that can be found in the above post.
Jesus Tap Dancing Christ...give it a break, already.
Go for a walk!
No? why hasn't he met with or didn't he write to the CURRENT president of France ... and why the little nudge about "peace??" Especially since the CURRENT prex of Franch is itching to get an invite? Suppose the current prez of France wrote to Bush hoping that they could work together?

I guess it depends on whether you think procol is important or not - and that relations with our allies is important.
Come on, damon. You're smarter than that!
And at the GridIron Dinner last nite (not while he was away on "vacation" or Spring Break - or whatever was claimed above) Biden had a ball!
WASHINGTON (AP) -- With President Barack Obama absent, Vice President Joe Biden poked fun at his boss' do-no-wrong reputation during an annual white-tie gathering of journalists and government officials.
Obama was the first president in decades not to attend the Gridiron Club dinner during his first year in office. He spent the weekend at Camp David with his family, skipping the Saturday night event because he was busy preparing for Easter, Biden said.
''He thinks it's about him,'' Biden said of the holiday.

Or else he was busy looking for the golden egg!

Telephone conversation between President Barack Obama and President Nicolas Sarkozy - Press release
Paris, January 26, 2009
President Obama called the President of the Republic this evening.
During their warm conversation, which lasted half an hour, they spoke substantively about several major international issues.
# The economic and financial crisis, a priority issue: Both presidents agreed on the need to act resolutely and to work together closely with a view to the next G20 summit in London.
# The Middle East: President Obama applauded France's decisive action during the Gaza crisis and told President Sarkozy that his special envoy, George Mitchell, would stop in Paris on his way to the Middle East. President Sarkozy will receive him on that occasion.
# Afghanistan: President Sarkozy hailed President Obama's determination to define a new global strategy with his allies -- a strategy at once military, economic and political -- assuring him that France would stand united with its allies.
# The upcoming NATO summit in Strasbourg-Kehl in early April: Both presidents agreed to do everything they could to make it a great success for the Atlantic Alliance.
At the start of their conversation, President Sarkozy welcomed the courageous measures taken by President Obama the day after his inauguration, particularly the announcement of the upcoming closing of Guantanamo. These measures responded to strong expectations in Europe, and France stands ready to help the United States to implement them.
Press release says it all ...
And tell us, oh great one, how they are working closely together on the "priority" issue, the economy?
And the goal still seems to be to save banks when it should be to save the economy. "Save the bankers!" Will he too fly a "mission accomplished" flag ...
Handing out $600 Trillion to anyone who raised their hand among those who gambled that the system would fail - except, of course, those who were never part of the whole mess is a solution? So now the US will be in hock to the world because of the ponzi scheme that was santified not only by Bush but continued under Obama? And Madoff is in jail for the same thing?
Obama could have written a generous check for every man, woman and child in the US and it would have been a hell of a lot smarter and fixed the economy a whole lot quicker.
But maybe that was the whole point of appointing Geithner. When the house of cards tumbles, he's got a perfect scapegoat from the right! It works for him and that's all that matters. And then he can redesign it in his own image.
Meanwhile the banks are finding it preferable to sell foreclosed homes than to accept short sales. And they're selling the foreclosed homes in bulk to investors for less than what they could've gotten in the short sales.
http://www.calculatedriskblog.com/2009/03/banks-leaving-money-on-table-all-day.html
Maybe that's what he and Sarkozy came up with!
But Krugman explains it again:
Paul Krugman is explaining once again why Geithner and Obama are so very wrong with their plans
buying up a bunch of troubled assets. Actually, that’s not quite it: the Obama administration has apparently made the judgment that there would be a public outcry if it announced a straightforward plan along these lines, so it has produced what Yves Smith calls “a lot of bells and whistles to finesse the fact that the government will wind up paying well above market for [I don't think I can finish this on a Times blog]”
http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/03/21/more-on-the-bank-plan/
Wow! let me have the money and I'll run down to AC with it ... it's nothing but a crap shoot! Besides AC could stand a bit of stimulating itself!
God forbid President Obama writes a letter to anyone who is not a Head of State.
Of course if he only talked to Heads of State it would only fuel the "elitist" rants so common in the OP's threads.
J, that sounds like a very constructive conversation that President Obama had with the President of France, Nicholas Sarkozy. It sounds as if they have established a good foundation for future geopolitical cooperation.
There are a lot of fences to mend in with France after the last 8 years.

Incidentally, Chirac wrote to Obama before Obama wrote to Chirac:
http://www.france24.com/fr/20081105-chirac-barack-obama-victoire-presidentielle-usa-elections
Meanwhile the banks are finding it preferable to sell foreclosed homes than to accept short sales. And they're selling the foreclosed homes in bulk to investors for less than what they could've gotten in the short sales.
That's because the investors are smarter than the banks (remember, the latter are the ones who created the house of cards in the first place) - and they don't have to give out quarterly profit reports.
Obxgirl, does your nickname stand for obnoxious? Just asking.
"Suppose the current prez of France wrote to Bush hoping that they could work together?"
what would be wrong with that?
Bush was ,after all, the President for the last 8 years ,a commander-in-chief overseeing two wars, someone who could share important information with world leaders.
Bill Clinton has been "out there" for years.

Jacques Chirac is 77 years old.
He was the President of France for 12 years.
It would have been inappropriate if BO did not answer Chirac's letter congratulating him on his election.

obx - good list except you forgot 'obfuscate at all times to make it seem like your point is just beyond the comprehension of mere mortals'.
I usually don't read this woman's posts for obvious reasons.
This one was such BS, I could not let it go.
When it was pointed out to her that all Obama did was reply to a kind letter from the former French President, she tells people to kiss her ....
What a windbag!
1) Once a president, always a president, as far as address goes.
2) Presidents do not generally write official letters and mail them themselves. Such letters are translated and cleared. It is absurd to think the protocol office is unaware that Chirac is not in office.
3) Nothing in the article indicates that Obama is confused about who is the present president of France.
4) A tempest in a teapot.
Agreed, Fra.
All sound and fury! When, by golly, they don't even read my posts! except, of course, when they do ...
Did I say it was like shooting fish in a barrel? Or good ol' Skinner - the bell rings and they salavate! It's fun watching! Uh! uh! lookie! lookie! I found the "golden egg."
Much ado about nothing ... and as far as my not discussing a thing to do with the problems that this country is facing while the POTUS goes on his talking tour, you have got to be kidding! There are questions from last Fall that I am still waiting for answers for!
I especially love the link chasers (much like tornado/storm chasers) who can hardly wait until I post ...
And I am really surprised they aren't all out playing ding dong doorbell for barry! Even the Obot blogs have little to report on the success of getting folks to sign those pledge cards! I pledge alliegence to ObamaNation ...
but sometimes it's just to irrestible - now that most of the KoolKids have signed in - since the red ALERT went out maybe this will die a natural death - this has been on life support other than for a few thoughtful posts! And they can go back to putting their hands over their ears and singing la la la la la ... and pretend that the execs' high pay and bonus money - retention money (especially those who took the money and ran) is really the problem with the economy! But it is important that we now bailout the the hedgefunds while the mortgage relief for Main Street has hit a Wall-Street wall in the Senate. But meanwhile, ACORN's the Workiing Family Party arranges for the "tour" of the "rich" folks home in CT terrorizing and harrassing them and their children. I guess when you have nothing, class warfare is bound to rear its ugly head especially against those who have managed to be successful and some underachiever is struggling with his/her empty lives. The new Dimocrats certainly learned all the lessons of class warfare from the right and did it well! Talk about class envy ... and whose else's income do they want to limit? And I thought that American Dream was all about working and getting ahead! But not too much, I guess, so the neighbors can keep up!
How dare BO compare the $250,000 to the $75,000 people make in Arkansas .... and continue to stir the pot of envy if the cost of living in the NYC metro area were the same as Arkansas, then maybe people could survive on much much less ... espcailly when he makes a couple of million (was it 4 last year?) and will see that easy this year. And bought a house he couldn't afford and needed a thug to help him do it instead of one of those special CountryWide loans that Biden, Dodd and others got!
Two names:
Cloward and Piven
Google away and enjoy!
You better keep rooting that I am wrong or you, your children and your grandchildren are going to be working until they are carred out with a toe tag attached.
"When, by golly, they don't even read my posts! except, of course, when they do ..."
I try to read them. When they are readable, it usually means you didn't write them.
Down, Fido, Down!

that bell ringing yet? Nothing to google? LOL And pray tell share with us ONE, just one informative post that you may have posted that is not an attempted slam dunk of another poster ... where you actually contributed to the conversation instead of crawling out from under a rock and throw stuff at a wall hoping some will stick ... there may be one or two but I sure don't pay much attention to your broken record ... yawn! I thought that they muzzled rabid dogs! but if I need a yuck or two, I can always count on you.
Go turn on CBS, beachplum. "Sixty Minutes" is about to start, and Barack Obama will be on. If we're lucky, he'll say something to set you off on another tirade.
You've got your behavioral psychologists mixed up. Skinner had the box; the bell was Pavlov.
The rest of your references are similarly flawed.
Do you have any evidence to support your assertion that Biden got a Countrywide loan?
Is this really more important than Pres. Obama putting MORE effort into his Men's NCAA basketball bracket than he did the Women's bracket?

Heads of state communicate and work with heads of state. Former heads of state do not onduct business. Jimmy Carter tries - he should hang it up (he can't help himself and thinks that he was a great president, I guess).
A lot of politicians got special loans from Countrywide and other companies. I guess it was their right to get whatever they wanted. They use their office as the to get whatever they want. And look at the tax dodging ("I didn't know...), "I didn't do anything wrong," etc. Believe what yu will.
Keep blaming the devil spawn and stay bitter. Then give St. BHO a pass because he is, afterall, himself.
paris, when you constantly use the phrase "St. BHO", it is you that sounds bitter.

Why would one even expect him to notice women's b'ball? I'm just happy that he didn't compare his bowling to that of a girl!

Why would he even think about women's round ball, where they actually play basketball instead of "run and shoot" ... wonder how the men do that with those skirts/culottes that they wear that look simply silly ... and when the only time he has even mentioned women's b'ball was when he took the Imus, Misogynist-in-Chief, misogynistic remark and turned it into a purely racial one?
The men who I know and associate with are not threatened by women, by feminism but most of all, are NOT threatended by equality at all, unlike MvK. Damn! those women! Why'd they ever give 'em a vote ... now they want equality too! And only because they HATE men - they want to take our privledge away from us (with appropriate whining and sobbing inserted)!
And that's why the NYTimes ran an excellent article on teenaged girls' responses to dating violence in the Style and Fashion section. Guess women and girls wouldn't see it unless it were placed there! And it's probably not a MAN's problem either!
But then MvK more than likely has to smoke great big fat cigars, has to park a great big vehicle in his driveway and has teeny tiny little feet ...
Love and kisses,
Not YOUR Sweetie!
<since we have a respite from b'ball, just continue to watch the ball bounce over the scripted words that are required by the Obama Pledge anytime anyone dare criticize the POTUS and rinse and repeat as required.>
You're funny bp, thanks for the entertainment this AM.

Why would it be expected that he even notice women's b'ball ... any more than our culture does? In fact, he's never metioned it other when he turned Imus' continued misgynomy into a purely racial issue.
And a game of round ball is far more important that the real problems that are facing the country? But then, I'm really glad that BO didn't compare his bowling to that of a girl - that would hardly have raised an eyebrow.
Most men, at least the men I know and associate with, are not threatened by equlity, feminism or even women. Obviously, MvK is not included in that group. Maybe he parks one of those new tiny little cars in his driveway too!
Love,
Not YOUR Sweetie!

Well, tongue in cheek is what comes to my mind - and I'll even explain the thought process to you.
During the campaign, virtually every photo of BHO showed him in glowing light. Look "on the cover of the Rolling Stone." It looked like he was coming down from the heavens. Then, I was told by the media and all of his supporters how he was better than sliced bread. My gosh he was near perfect! Farrakhan told me he was the Messiah.
He got elected and the campaign continues. He's still on the cover of virtually every magazine. Oh, and the heavenly lighting. And, he's the greatest orator - at least that's what I learned here. He could even pronounce "nuclear" clearly. Wow, I mean he's near perfect!
So, I refer to him as St. BHO because I think it's funny - especially with the recent gravitas he exhibited on Leno. The Celebrity in Chief, my gosh, I gush! I have a somewhat perverted sense of humor - it might have to do with spending the summer getting my brain fried, knowing more about Joe the Plumber than BHO, having had to put up with the vile vitriol directed towards McCain/Palin and to still see the bitterness directed towards the devil spawn himself.
So, I have my fun and if you don't like it - tough. If I want to call him St. BHO or the Obamarama, I will. I think it's funny. If you don't, ignore me. I may not always do it. I get tired of it, too. I may find something else. Right now, I see more of a 3-ring circus than a serious presidential administration. I have a brain tumor, take steroids, do chemo and teach high school students.
If you don't understand --- I do not do it to personally offend anyone.
I hope that this explains it. Life is too short to be bitter.
"Girls just want to have fun!" (thank you Cyndi)
'If you don't, ignore me. '
I already do. And that is a shame because you might have some valid points, but when they're surrounded by dripping sarcasm all the time, I know that they are coming from a true partisan who is not interested in engaging in a discussion. I can say without reservation that I never referred to Bush, McCain or Palin by anything but their real names.
Suki,
If all were like you, it would be a pleasure. I get overly sarcastic and sometimes I'm serios. Sadly, many on this board have heaped the vitriol. I belong to no political party - never have. But, I have my opinions and beliefs. The nice thing is that when I post you know it and can ignore. That is your choice. Frankly, I do the same thing on occasion when I see who the poster is.
And after having been called brainless, among other things, well...
I do appreciate your feedback, because the comment was not directed to you.
And my pointing out that your posts seem bitter, while you had already done the same to me....is somehow "vitriolic" on my part? I don't believe I had addressed you at all to spur your retort.
Funny logic there.
thereyet
"Obviously, MvK is not included in that group. "

OBVIOUSLY? Obvious to you, perhaps. By what twisted logic did you reach this conclusion?
Oh yeah, the same twisted logic that equates a letter written to a FORMER foreign leader to Pres. Obama NOT knowing he was no longer France's President.
But thanks for playing, SWEETIE!
MvK
the Christian Science Monitor did confirm that Obama did in fact write a letter to Chirac. Aparently it was in response to a letter written to him from Chirac. Either way, he isn't a smart man, did anyone see his 60 minutes interview when he started laughing when they asked him questions about the economy.
I think Obama is still upset with his staff. The letter had the standard "brush-off" language that he clearly intended to send to Sarkozy.
Chirac's letter was intended to say Obama was saddened that Chirac's effort to take over the world came to an inglorious end when the world discovered Chirac was French.
It would have closed, and give my best to your little lapdog Gerhard Schroeder.
No, the spelling and punctuation aren't up to
