Either is too much with just six days. You could do Brussels (or Bruges) and Amsterdam in six days but not Luxembourg as well. You could take the train between them, then fly to Copenhagen (or train to Copenhagen if you prefer).

Or you could do Zurich and somewhere else in Switzerland, or the French Riviera, but again not both.

Why not spend the six days exploring Copenhagen and say Stockholm?

If you pick Zurich, don't do the Riviera, that's not a practical combo. Try the Ticino or the Italian lakes instead.

There are early morning, midmorning, afternoon and evening direct flights between Zurich and Copenhagen on SAS. Ditto for flights between Zurich and Stockholm. You can then catch a connecting flight down to Lugano airport or take the train.

Would not recommend Zürich as a destination. I mean, it's a great city, but most folks go to Switzerland to see the Alps or the rolling hills, not to see their great cities.

If you want to see Switzerland, I suggest you head for some mountains -- Engadin Valley, Jungfrau region, Gstaad, Zermatt . . .

Two bases in Switzerland would be great for six days, say four nights in the Oberland then two nights at Lake Geneva.

Oh, and what time of year will this be?

Swandav2000 - I took your suggestion and narrowed our time to two bases - Montreaux and Lucerne. I hope to get a day trip in to Lake Como. We'll rent a car since we like the flexibility. We'll be there in late August. Flights are set. Now I'm looking into hotels. Has anyone stayed at the Montana?

Yes - we stayed at the Montana in Lucerne and liked it very much. Our room had a great balcony looking out over the lake and unlike most hotels they had arrangements for parking a car.
