greetings!
this is such a thrill to actually have a trip to plan for because i spend so much time living vicariously through all the travels that other people take and come back to describe in such wonderful detail.
i'm going to a conference that ends in zurich on the morning of july 2nd and then was thinking about joining a tour group in prague that meets up the evening of july 3rd.
after reading all the messages about Cesky Krumlov and knowing that's as close to royalty as i'm likely to get this time around i wondered if it's possible to take a train from zurich to get to CK and then to prague on time?
the prague tour is doing a day trip to Kutna Hora which sounds interesting but i really would like to see the fairytale town.
any suggestions?
thanks!

Using rail routes which require the MINIMUM number of changes it will take you almost 13 hours between Zurich and Prague and about 14 between Zurich and Cesky Krumlov.
Flying might be a more realistic possibility and if there are any budget routes you could check those at www.whichbudget.com
So... did i mention that i'm seriously "geographically-challenged"? thanks for your response. so if i'm determined to get to CK it seems the best thing to do would be to fly immediately to prague and try and catch a bus tour and then come back for the prague tour.
i did check out the airline site and will keep it for future reference. at this point they're saying they can't reserve the dates i need and the rate they're quoting for similar days is more than if i just do a multi-trip ticket from new york or dc.
this ACTUAL traveling instead of VIRTUAL traveling is a lot more work!

If you want to get really "inventive" there is a way you could cut down the travel time from Zurich.
You could fly on Air Berlin from Zurich to Berlin and take a train from there to Prague (5.5 hours)..but I'm honestly not sure it would be worth it.
Might be more productive to assess your desires to see Cesky Krumlov..somehow I think there may be easier ways to get close to royalty. IMO the town is wonderful but when compared to Prague it somehow pales in comparison.
