You're all a bunch of cheapskates, I know that. So here's something for free: London Open House Weekend 20-21/9. All free.

Yes; get to see inside London's best buildings, the bits you can't normally see. All for free.
You have to book for some of the more popular ones or the ones in sensitive places (eg the Gov't's art collection)
I'm being a guide in one location. Maybe I'll see you?

Oh poo...
I was just browsing the website and thinking yes, that could be good, then I checked my diary and what do you know?
I have to take my eldest daughter to Sheffield - yes Sheffield, of all architecturally challenged places - as she starts University there that week. Well, it's the week after really but Freshers'Week is not to be missed, LOL.
And there's no way she can get up there with all her stuff by train.
Let me/us know next time please, CW.

I can't be arsed to click that link since my laptop is ancient and practically has a seizure if you try to have two windows open at once. Is the Gerkhin on that list - I wouldn't mind seeing that.

Outside the London area, places are open 11th to 14th September and details are available at www.heritageopendays.org.uk. Each local area does its own organisation, so arrangements can vary, but there are lots of places to visit, many of which are usually closed to the public.
