Your suggestion, please, for a casual dinner on 1st night in the Latin Quarter
We'll be arriving in Paris next month , on a Monday evening, tired after having traveled all day. Probably will be hungry, too.
Can anyone suggest a cafe or casual restaurant near rue des Bernardins ?
We'll explore options on our own the next day, but for that first night I think we'll be grateful to dine within walking distance of our hotel and we'll appreciate personal recommendations from Fodorites.

It's closed on Monday, but if you'd like to stay in the neighborhood another evening, I recommend Le Reminet, 3 rue des Grands-Degrès. Walk to the quai and turn left. Rue des Grands-Degrès intersects the quai at rue Maitre Albert. Interesting cooking with provincial roots. Reserve--phone: 01 44 07 04 24.
Also near the same corner is Atelier Maitre Albert, a rôtisserie that's getting very good reviews; it's somewhat more expensive than Le Reminet.

Thanks for the ideas, I'm jotting them in my little pocket sized notebook. I knew we wouldn't starve that first night, but it is good to know the names of a couple of places in advance

Isaïe, or womething like that, 1 rue de l'Ecole Polytechnique. It's a small place, with one person as the chef and waiter--he's also the owner. We had some excellent scallops, and the food was generally very good.
